as far as I'm concerned the uniform is: helmet, jersey, pants, socks and primary color of cleats*

* usually this goes simple white or black.. but they can use a team color for their cleats as an exception to the usual just white or black (like what happens now)

how far does the nfl go with the 'other stuff'?

suppose someone decides to wear different colors of those live strong type bracelets

I can see the players side but let's keep it real here. A person can honor someone in millions of ways. Why players choose to openly break rules is beyond me.

Seriously. Get a tat on your face or arm everyone can see if it's that important. We can't even notice eye black on TV most times. Both sides being petty.

It is well within the NFL rights to tell the players how they want their product presented.

The players know what they can and can't wear. If they disregard the rules, that's on them and they deserve to be fined.

If you're a lawyer and you know you can't wear sneakers to your job, would you still do it anyways?

if I wear glasses, they cant tell me what brand, style or color of glasses to wear.. ditto watch or any other accessory

my employer just wants me to dress professionally

Most jobs also don't have a laundry list long policy of what you can and can't wear :lol

The NFL players know what they can and can't do. No one is making them play in the NFL. If they want to wear eye black messages, take your talents to the arena league

While I agree the sock stuff is petty, but they have pretty good reasoning for wanting to limit eye black messages :lol

Yeah, go get marked up permanently by a needle to mimick wearing an eye black piece or dyed hair laugh.gif

If the NFL could regulate what players eat and drink on a daily basis, I'm sure they'd do so.

I think the NFL could review what is being out on there and have a reasonable guidelines. It isn't that hard to use common sense

So explain how Devon Still wasn't fined.

If they're going to levy fines, be consistent. That's my gripe.

It just isn't worth the NFL's trouble to screen this stuff :lol

If the players feel that strongly about eye black messages, then fight for it in the next CBA :lol

It doesn't have to be in the form of eye black but getting your face tatted is just as crazy as wearing a eye black message that cost you thousands weekly.

Honor your folks on Twitter before every game. Why does it HAVE to be on field? Put their picture in your sock or something. It's so simple. These players just wanna be petty.

if Devon Still can honor his daughter why can't Cam Heyward honor his father?

either allow it all or don't allow any of it.

It brings more awareness doing it on a Sunday than from any other form of social media or day of the week.

Knowing Williams' family history, there is nothing petty about his reasons for doing what he does. You should probably read up.

Same goes for Heyward.

And the fact his dad was a former player mean.gif

So everyone is on board with NFL players breaking league rules as long as the cause is legit?

I can think of hundreds of causes out here that could be championed on Sunday. If it's other then eye black would you crack down then? At one point does it become to much?

If a player wants to wear pink shoes, yellow live strong bracelets and eye black messages every week it's all good huh. Some players have multiple people who suffer from different things. Multi colored rainbow players all over the field reppin causes isn't good for the game.

Again, common sense can prevail. I trust eye black and dyed hair won't lead to catastrophic results for the NFL

I hear these arguments with letting anyone get married to anyone as well laugh.gif

I would just wear it every week. after a few weeks the news will get out to different media sources. plus they donate the fine money to charity anyway.

The eye black isn't a big deal. I just wanna know what folks will say when that one player comes along with his legit cause and wears something other then eye black. Something more noticeable.

You can literally do anything if the cause is legit that you stand behind and say the NFL doesn't support this or that.

Understatement.

Their hubris will bite them in the *** one day, I firmly believe that. Word to compounding their streak of L's through litigation...by deciding to litigate some more. :lol

I'm just glad the Commissioner finally came out after 2 months of hiding to do another softball Q&A with Mike & Mike. The trailblazers we need to keep it real. :smokin
