Witten is the best TE in the league, he does it all and in most cases he's not the #1 option. First ballot HOF without a question.
Gronk will eventually surpass him numbers wise tho if he stays healthy.

First ballot to me means a guy that was the best at his position at one point in his career,that was never the case with Witten imo. There was always Gonzalez/Gates/Gronk now(fax,homer or not *shrugs* 
). He`s a deinite HoFer in my eyes but I don`t think he`ll get in right away just like a lot of All-Time WR`s(ala Cris Carter). Guess it also depends on how stacked his class is though.

Gronk has a single flaw: health.
That's it. Outside of health he's literally the prototype tight end.

Woah...woooooooooah the Jason WItten slander will not be tolerated. He's definitely in the conversation for greatest ever. Dude has a good 2 or 3 years left in his career and he already has over 10,000 receiving yards and 57 TD's. That's phenomenal for a TE. That's already at Shannon Sharpe level. By the end of his career he'll probably be second only to Gonzalez in TD's and yards

Gonzo wasn't blocking anyone and neither was/is Gates.
Witten consistently gives you the best of both worlds.
He's just not flashy or exciting, the non-sexy pick.
