The public and the media machine largely dismissed Boykin's comments as preposterous, a predictable reflex whenever a black athlete suggests the white mainstream fails to understand the black experience. Boykin then clarified his remarks, even though the Eagles provided all the necessary clarity in 2014 when they gave Riley Cooper  a five-year, $25 million contract seven months after the receiver's use of a racist slur. Boykin, the thinking went, could not possibly  be correct because, as a coach, Kelly leads dozens of highly paid black men, which is nearly as absurd as saying the manager of a nightclub cannot be sexist because the dancers he hires are women.
That was always my biggest gripe with peoples quick defense of Chip.

Although I'm leaning towards Chip being an *** hole as opposed to a racist, I still hate how the discussion ended because he "replaced" blacks with blacks.

Barbaro died, it's time to stop beating him

Boykin and Shady had their opportunity to stand behind their comments and they both put their tail between their legs

absolutely it was brushed off immediately

I don't see what was soo hard to believe about an older white dude struggling to get along with and communicate with younger black men

The player added: “Chip’s attitude towards players doesn’t bother me. I actually like it. I know where I stand with him. You understand that he doesn’t want to be challenged so don’t f—king challenge him. It’s pretty simple. I get it. Some guys don’t.”

A second African-American Eagles player said: “He sets the agenda. You don’t follow it, you’re dead to him. That’s not racial. Some guys handle it well, some guys don’t.”

Chip is like 50 year old New Englander though.  Doesn't exactly put him in the category of "Old White dude must be racist" to me.

Not exactly Donald Sterling status "what did you think they thought".

You being serious?

Middle aged white dudes from the northeast can be racist as hell.

I assume most white guys 40+ are anyway until proven otherwise.

First off, why are the anonymous sources on a positive note for the coach of your team?

"He's a great coach but don't tell anyone I said that."

And if those quotes are real, they both sound like some straight up BAN.

"Boss don't like to be challenged, don't challenge da boss!"

These are grown *** men we're talkin about.

Anybody "can be" racist as hell.

I'm saying a dude born in New Hampshire in 1963 isn't exactly someone I'd lump into the "oh well yea no **** hes racist" group a la 80+ year old Donald Sterlings of the world.

Oh well we disagree on that because I most certainly would, hell they we're raised by the donald sterling generation.

First dude may have been trying to be positive but he proved why guys like Boykins feel the way they do
The thing with Chip is he just doesn’t see you as a person. He sees you as a commodity.
If you're someone who agrees with your coaches tactics and believes he doesnt see you as a person, that's kinda nuts...and sad

Coming from a state that was literally 99% white in 1963 and still 96-97% white today I wouldn't be surprised if someone from there exhibited some type of prejudice.

Not saying I would automatically think they were racist, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised. I would assume a lot of people from there have had little to no interactions with minorities given the demographics and we aren't exactly portrayed as model citizens by a lot of the media.

Chip would obviously later have a more diverse experience being involved in football.
