Can't get over how poorly he took care of the ball at times. Great QB but doesn't crack my top 5 for that sole reason

Brett had a weird career. Hard to ignore the way he started with 3 MVP's and a ring. But then he had a decade of some of the most frustrating QB play you'll ever see. The Mannings, Rodgers, Brady's are too good to ever have a 5 win season in the middle of their career. Then his last season at GB and at 40 years old with the Vikings he has 2 more MVP caliber seasons that both ended being o so close to Super Bowl births.

Some of these fools act like Russell Wilson is supposed to take like 10 million because of his defense and Marshawn Lynch? If guys like Tanneyhill and Cam are getting around 20 million what do you expect Russell Wilson to make?

He'll probably earn over 22 million then Luck is going to smash Wilsons contract then Luck apologists can cry about him not having talent in the preceding years.

The entire point is the Seattle Org has paid EVERYONE in that franchise, but not Russ. :nerd:

This shouldn't be difficlut. Every other QB is getting paid rather easily, we all know that Luck is going to break the record for contract, why the delay with Russ? Is it the org? Is it Russ? Both? What's the hold up, for this super duper can't live without star that Hawk fans proclaim him to be?
Right, because every position in the league has an as high premium as quarterback..yeah you're onto something there CP

One of their most valuable players on defense was signed a contract below his own value..but they're throwing crazy figures at everyone besides Russ right

Yeah all these other teams with QB's have drafted multiple elite players all within the same time span, so they have to worry about maintaining that elite core as well

Yeah none of that is difficult to try and manage

So they chose the others, over taking care of Russ first, you say?

That's all you need to say. Not the same picture 11 times, but maybe I'm bein emotional today. |I

Everyone has been taken care of in similar order. When they had a year left on their contract

But naw Russ going through contract negotiations after everyone else's rookie deals were up before his is out of the norm....you right CP

I don't see how Brett Favre is overrated tho. He's rated exactly where he should be - somewhere in the top 10 to 15 QBs of all time. Maybe breaks into the single digits on some people's lists.

Never hear anyone mention GOAT or Favre in the same sentence.

true story

I could see Brett working out well in Houston, NYJ, Cleveland, Buffalo, Seattle and Cincy.

Obviously he's top 15/top 10.

But there's plenty of people who put him top 3/top 5. When that's said, he's being overrated.

But I have no issues with top 10/15

I'd put Brett Favre around 5-10

He won 3 NFL MVPs, 1 championship, 2 Super Bowls

Also off the hand, I don't think a lot of his team's were stacked with talent

Got a point there. Teams ALWAYS take care of the QB first and everybody else comes after. They're treating Wilson like he's a WR.

Of course Wilson is good. He's shown he's a leader and he's clutch but he does get carried a lot by Lynch and that defense. It's been plenty of games when he doesn't even show up till the 4th quarter. Not many QB's can afford to just play bad for 3 quarters and still win. Look at their playoff run this year.

I expect Rodgers to be there one day. But from qbs I've seen in my lifetime, no staubach or Unitas...I feel comfortable putting Brett at 5.

It's him or Marino honestly.

Schneider does not operate like that as I said above

He's been extremely consistent how he's handled all contracts and when those talks can begin. Nobody has gotten special treatment in regards to their extensions. Russell is no different

Same thing with Lynch, he wasn't going to negotiate when he had 2 years left. He didnt do that with Kam, Earl, Sherm, KJ...nobody

Stop falling for that narrative

Yeah Favre is probably solidly at 5 in the modern quarterbacks

Watching Brett Favre play football epitomizes why kids play football. It's too bad people can sour on a player because of John Madden and the like. Also, the latter portion of his career really didn't do him any favors, but he was an entertaining watch as anyone. The rankings can go all sorts of ways if you group his "era", because he's kind of unique in the fact that he's a tweener. He can be grouped in with the Brady's and Manning's just as easily as he can with Steve Young, Jim Kelly, Elway, Aikman...Either way, I'm very glad I got to watch him play in his prime and as a Viking (with a flash back to his prime).
