Its actually a pretty good reason though. Its logical. Other teams got caught altering balls during a game and there was no penalty. How do you explain that?
 
Roger had an agenda to win over the masses, Patriots have been caught before, this was the perfect murder for Rog

I said I wasn't being specific to this case

But if I was, I would say better reasoning is:

Tom throws the ball better with a certain Psi
The team had observed other QBs doing the same without consequence
The league did not reinforce this rule or show any sign that they took it overly serious
Taking this calculated risk then made sense to make their QB perform at a higher level


To me that's better than 'everyone cheats so is is no big deal'. You weigh the cost vs the benefit and in this case (in theory) the Pats thought the benefits outweighed

The punishment should fit the crime though.

Chargers get caught RED HANDED covering their balls in stickum (ala Jerry Rice), and recieve a warning.

Pats ALLEGEDLY deflated balls and recieved the largest penatly in the history of the league. This has been over the top

That's from January,can't blame them for being caught up in the wave of misinformation purposely spread by the league in the immediate aftermath of the story breaking...

Show me a poll from this month and I'm certain those %'s will be different

Doesn't even matter man, we lose the super bowl it's we haven't won since spygate and since we won it's because we deflate footballs.... It's a losing battle, just embrace it and continue supporting the patriots.
