Again, Bettis averaged 1050 yards and 7 TDs per year

Those are about as average as it gets, if that.

And that includes some garbage time later seasons where Pitt thought Duce Staley and Willie Parker were the change in direction they wanted at RB (though Willie had a few good years)

Durability may be undervalued at a position where durability is a huge obstacle

Any word on Joe Thomas?

Steelers kicker Shaun Suisham tore his ACL, per @pittsburghpg. Leaves Pittsburgh searching for a new kicker to do his job in tough venue.

tough blow

Marcus Allen's last three seasons ('95-'97) as he was wasting away in Kansas City from the ages of 35-37: 48 games, 30 starts - 4.1 YPC.

At 35, 36, and 37, dude still averaged more yards per carry than Bettis' career YPC.

YO! DF!

Moss isn't just goat because of being a freak, or uber athletic.

Rice played with accurate HOF QB Joe Montana, and accurate HOF QB Steve Young, under offensive guru head coach Bill Walsh, while using stickum.

Randy Moss played with Randall Cunningham, Jeff George, Daunte Culpepper, the Oakland Raiders, AND THEN accurate HOF QB Tom Brady, under a defensive guru Head Coach.

The comparison would be like Moss playin with Peyton Manning, then playin with Tom Brady, all under Andy Reid.

And using stickum.

If I remember Correctly Cunningham and Culpepper were pretty damn good when Moss played with them. So let's not pretend those two were Ryan Lindley. They were far better than average at the time. Plus...both those teams made the playoffs and one was one step away from making the Super Bowl. Outside of Oakland Randy played with plenty of talent around him.

Cunningham was out of football. Moss resurrected both he and Jeff George, if only for one season.

Culpepper is remembered more favorably than he should be. Moss and Carter made him.

wasting away? the Chiefs were stacked, stop pretending they were some top 5 drafting team, they went 13-3 twice during that time

That 3.9 is throwing you for a loop. If it was .1 higher then you'd be ok with Bussy? Because of a 50-70 yard difference in a full year?

Reed coming back!

they had a great oline. marcus allen was also goalline runner these years. just sounds like people hating on bettis for no good reasons.

People simply have different ideas and thresholds about what the HOF should be. The problem is the precedent is already set unless you want to start going back and erasing those already in based on new criterion and evolution.

Bingo. Should the HOF be the elite of the elite? Probably, but it isn't, hence why I keep referencing Bus with 'based off who is in there already, he was getting in'

I can't handle another Kurt Warner debate. He's one of the all-time greats. Not a flash in the pan like Cunningham.

list of eligible backs:

Running Backs: – Shaun Alexander, Ottis Anderson, Tiki Barber, Roger Craig, Stephen Davis, Terrell Davis, Eddie George, Priest Holmes, Edgerrin James, Daryl Johnston, Jamal Lewis, Herschel Walker, Ricky Watters

I'm kinda surprised Craig isn't in there, assumed he was. TD is always the most interesting debate

none of them deserve it more then bus tho.

Roger Craig doesn't get in because I think voters look at him for having 4 really good years and the rest being kind of average

@jeffphowe: Source: LeGarrette Blount's MRI was negative on his right knee. No structural damage. He was also running hill sprints today.
