.@AdamSchefter and Sall said "Berman told the NFL that they better come to grips that a settlement in favor of the NFLPA is very possible"

:nerd:

Sounds like Evan Mathis may find a new home relatively soon. A source close to the situation says a "deal could happen anytime now."

Manish Mehta ‏@MMehtaNYDN 5m
Don't be surprised if Jets hold off on signing a vet QB right now. Could evaluate market & wait to see who shakes loose later in preseason

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter 48s
Attorney Jeff Kessler admitted Tom Brady could have handled cell phone differently. But said it's "most overblown issue in 40 years of law."

I am very interested to see who Mathis signs with and for how much, dude really blew it by listening to Drew Rosenhaus

Zach ertz appears hurt. Caught what looked like a TD in corner of end zone and went down to his knees. Got up and fell down on sideline.

Geoff Mosher @GeoffMosherCSN now
Ertz is up now and is trying to walk it off. This is becoming common for him in camp. Taking a lot of hits.

Now in the future of that contract prevented them from signing someone of great importance, then you can revisit the debate

QFT.

I would much rather take 2 or 3 of those players listed instead of 1 Watt
Is it that simple to look at it that way though? A lot of those guys are on rookie deals and were drafted by those teams

Exactly, now dudes just throwing out anything hoping it sticks

That's how good teams stay good. You don't tie all your money up on one player on your dline and therefor have bums on the rest of the line. And fwiw Avril and Bennett were on the list and neither are on their rookie deal or drafted by Seattle

None of those guys are JJ Watt.

He's the best defensive player in the league right now and is their franchise player. That's why he got the contract he deserved ... Avril and Bennett are nice, but they aren't impacting a franchise or selling jerseys like Watt.

I dont know if you can say JJ Watt adds 5 wins by himself.

His team went 2-14 in 2013 with him playing basically at the same level

"But wait!...he got 10 more sacks in 2014"

Sacks to me are a stat are easier to compile when your team is playing competitive Football...The Texans weren't too competitive in 2013

They were 2-14 the year before though.

What does the Texans' record have to do with if Watt deserves the money he got?

Those two things aren't logically related. JJ impacts so many plays, it is ridiculous. QB is by far the most important position on a roster, and JJ's contract isn't preventing and won't prevent the Texans from eventually getting a QB.

The Texans record can't be used as an argument against Watt when we're rolling out no arm Schaub and Fitz

"I don't know if you can say"

I don't think it's up around five games, but to say he might have added three wins on his own impact (say the two times he played the Titans + another team he terrorized) is amazing. Three wins, guesstimation, caused by a player who is on the field with 21 others at all times makes that sort of impact.

all i know is that last season, Watt was making crazy play after crazy play each week. seemed like he scored or made a play that directly led to a score every other god damn week.

Joe Person @josephperson
Josh Norman on the fight: "It's practice. We're teammates, we're brothers."

Joe Person @josephperson
"I don't know what else you want me to say about it other than he's our franchise QB." -- Josh Norman on Cam Newton

Joe Person @josephperson
"He throws dimes and I try to deflect them, and take them to the house," -- more Norman on Cam.
