I don't see the details between the distraction of Sam being the same as for Tebow, but I suppose publicity is publicity no matter what.

I also have a real disdain for the media that some dictate an opinion from (not at all directed at you 10027). Regardless, in my personal opinion, the good brought from him being rostered is greater than the distraction, whether self-inflicted or media driven.

If he loved the game and wanted to be a real QB he would have played in the CFL and showed he could lead a team rather than trying to fight for any scrap of the bigtime spotlight left to him, which is exactly what he's doing.  Couldn't get the NFL attention so he spent a year on ESPN until he could be back on sportscenter rather than actually playing the game.

I disagree but to each their own, Tebow went and worked on fixing his passing abilities with Tom House

I really don't see how Michael Sam is comparable to Tebow beyond the fact I can't stand his reasoning for using his homosexuality and college football career to stay relevant

dude was going to have a reality TV show until the Rams nixed it

Tim Tebow is only relevant and only has a job in the NFL because of the popularity of his right-wing Christian beliefs and "virginboy" fan community.  That's just a fact—his skills and performance clearly aren't deserving of this many opportunities or a 3rd string QB job.

Sam actually flunked out of the NFL after his performance, is the difference.  But one lobby is a hell of a lot bigger than the other...

Eh he did have some good on field moments, games and wins. Seemed like a lot was due to luck but also seemed like the teams played hard for and with him

All the excuses for Tebow in here are infuriating. Guy is a great football player? He sucks at QB, can't play any other position because he isn't good enough. Doesn't sound like a good football player to me. "he's a just a good football player" is my favorite quote.

He's a competitor and the ultimate team player. Is that a talent? Over 50 players on a roster, you're telling me every team doesn't have players like this?

He was "used right" in Denver, how did that work? He doesn't belong in the league.

He was also facing the Colts defense and not just the Colts sorry *** starting defense but their second and third stringers.

there is no denying why Tebow is popular amongst people, I am not religious at all but I can see why he got another chance, he doesn't bring the distraction because he believes in his views but media loves him because of it

Sam knows the media will eat up whatever he does so he uses it to stay relevant, I mean Dancing with the Stars? I guess he was serious about his NFL career

Probably 'intangibles' since neither should see the field

I mean Timmy is a motivational speaker. Always good to have around

(Note to self Ballerific does not want a Tebow jersey for Christmas)

no but that's my point, he knew exactly what he was doing with this

football is a distant second to Michael Sam
Maybe it is.  You're telling me football is more important to Tim Tebow than his christian celebrity fame?

Because if it was he would have played in the CFL instead of going to be in front of the camera on ESPN.

BTW Sam was clearly trying to make a point with that at the draft which is fine with me.  Man can live his life however he wants, maybe it was appropriate to make a statement.

How does ESPN equate to Christian celebrity fame? Wouldn't his speaking tours be a better point of emphasis?

It's the biggest spotlight he had available to him, so he took it.

I'm sure if ESPN and the NFL are off the table then the speaking tours will be next, yeah.

I am lost on Tebow's beliefs translating to joining ESPN rather than going to the CFL

Sam quits the CFL than tweets out he believes he is having mental issues for the last 12 months, can't wait for for his "comeback" a year from now when he's "fine" again

If Tebow makes the roster over someone more deserving , then Chip isnt a good GM. Thats on Chip, not Tebow.

Well he does the tours. Did he talk about his beliefs on ESPN? It was the Christian fame comment that confused me. The tours were towards that goal, I don't know if ESPN was (and regardless it wouldn't bother me if it was). ESPN wouldn't be about religious fame but just fame in general

I was referring to his goal being fame and attention in general.

The Christian thing is obviously a driving force behind him getting that attention.

Tebow's making the roster over Barkley for one main reason IMO: the new extra point rules. Bet Chip is gonna insert the boy for 2-point conversions.

I really don't give a damn who makes it between Tebow and Barkley

that's choosing between Li Nings and Dada's

I always thought 'The Genius' Craig Krenzel was an awesome third stringer. I figured he was figuring something important out at all times. Now if he got in the game...uh oh!

Yup.. No real cares about our QBs other than Bradford

If Bradford doesn't pan out, then we're back to looking for QB1
