^ the backfield didn't look good yesterday..

unless you mean when they were catching it out of the backfield or lining up wide.. but does that have to do with the quality of giants LBs or them looking good?

Think the Bears will be more competitive than expected this season....

Forte is a DAWG :pimp: :pimp:

If only we had that second huge WR.... Oh wait... Hey Brandon Marshall [emoji]128530[/emoji]

How didn't the backfield look good?

Randle/DMC = 22 carries, 85 yards .. a couple of those carries could've broke for longer runs too but the Giants made some key tackles.

Dunbar = 8 rec, 70 yards; Randle = 3 rec, 42 yards; DMC = 1 rec, 19 yards

All positive yardage, there was no dancing around in the backfield, and they moved the pile forward instead of backwards.

Randle also looked good in the blitz pickup as well.

For a team that's taking the RBBC approach, it was a very productive week 1 from the backfield. They will continue to grow into their roles.

No. I don't think so.

Reminds me though...who was that corner out there making all them plays? Dude was a beast and all over the place. He looks like the real deal.

Darby. That boy was all over the field yesterday. Only a rookie too..just another strong piece on an already tough defense..

IATT IATT I'll admit the running game wasn't what I thought it would be(dominant) but it was still good. I think it came from the lack big plays honestly. One chunk run of 20+ yards will make that ypc average look a lot better ya know? on the other hand the RBs were very effective as receivers. Yards are yards imo..

I'm still not worried about the running game...tho I'll admit keeping that balance is extremely important to our success..

watching last night, solely as runners they didn't look that good..

unless the giants got significantly better since last season, it shocked the hell out of me.. their front 7 aint that good and they were terrible vs the run last year

the line gave romo all the time in the world on passing plays, so I don't want to fault them for it

I asked this question in the WIR thread.. but I put the blame on the RBs out of who is responsible or to blame for cowboys only getting 3.5 yards per carry (out of the cowboys Oline, giants defense or cowboys RBs)

like it says more about shady only getting 2.4 yards per carry vs the colts, than it says about the colts rush defense

did Christine Michael get any carries?

also not sure the clear cut swapping guys for specific roles helped matters, in this regard.. it did help when they switched it up and started using joseph on passing plays.. but the cowboys were successful on most passes to RBs (which again made me ask about the quality of giants' LBs)

That's exactly what I'm talking about lol.

But even running they didn't look bad

I think its moreso the issue of Dallas never giving their rbs chance to get a good rhythm going.. They moved the ball down the field effortlessly both Times Randle was in (beginning of first quarter and beginning of 4th quarter if i recall), and Dunbar was fine playing at the slot on third downs in their empty sets, but i just don't see the point in trotting McFadden out there too.. Let Randle get something going, and some continuity, and should he get hurt THEN put McFadden out there.. what i saw last night was a mess..

I guess it all comes down to what you're looking for out of our RB situation. If you're expecting someone to come in and separate themselves as the clear #1 and workhorse, then I can see why some would say our backfield didn't look good. Others, like myself, don't expect anyone to be the lead horse like Murray, all I need is all 3 guys to give us solid production running the ball, catching it out the backfield, and picking up the blitz.

Yea I agree, the RBs are to blame, because the holes were there...

Two things we missed last night in the running game : big play runs, the long was 15 last night. And there was no YAC. Once dudes got touched they went down.

I'm hoping Christine Michael can help with the latter, the former will come...

At the end of the day I'm not worried because the same holes were there, and more importantly the time of possession was still there..we were still ahead of the chains, and we still got first downs at will...

The running game will come around. Don't u worry..

just looked at the box score, dunbar didn't get 1 carry?

the more I think about it, it might be the coaching that helped out the giants.. if the randle was in, they played the run.. if dunbar was in they played pass (pretty obvious since he would line up out wide whenever he did)

I'd say 5 of those 8 Dunbar receptions came with him lined up in the slot as a receiver...he was used as a true rb sparingly..off the top I can think of a screen and those two check downs on the GW drive where he lined up in the backfield instead of the slot...

I gotta watch the replay to be sure, but I recall a nice handful of plays he was on the field with another rb (so randle in the backfield and Dunbar in the slot)..

Still a fair assessment by u tho... I'd key on pass too if Dunbar is in..

I still can't believe Mariota was able to take snaps under center, command a huddle, and throw the football at an NFL level. Completely mind-blowing.

What's interesting to me is that Ryan Tannehill didn't suddenly become a great quarterback after getting that contract.

After all the talk this offseason I thought he had already ascended.
