Mr. Robot: Wednesdays at 10 PM on USA

If you paid attention to any of my posts it was obvious to anybody posting that was the case. From the beginning of this show. Maybe you forgot or weren't there.
yup. i think you were the first person i got that from earlier in this thread or the other movie/tv thread. funny thing about the last ep, up until they were in the graveyard, i was about to change my mind and think that he was real. the whole scene in the computer shop was really, really good.

btw to the guy that didn't think this was the best newer show and named a bunch he liked better (including the horrible penny dreadful - damn man that show is crap), thanks for mentioning ray donovan. i'm almost done with season 1 and it's very enjoyable. despite all the star talent, not as good as mr robot so far but still really good.
That's all I was really doing, fostering the other side of the discussion and thinking maybe things weren't that obvious and simple. We all seen different versions of how that would play out so I thought it'd be a bit more interesting if Mr. Robot was a real person but since he's not it's what we all originally thought.

I wouldn't even take credit for the idea to compare what's going on with Elliot to the most popular example in Fight club with Tyler Durden. After like ep 1 or 2 I saw somebody else in here mention Durden while we were just calling it a hallucination and talk like that geared to a mental illness.

So credit really aint even the point but I was just establishing that the Durden comparison been in this thread since after ep 1.

Again, if you were there for the discussion you perhaps would've saw how it made sense.
Yeah cuz like I said I was thinking about the possibility of Mr. Robot actually being a real person.

After last week's ep you were saying that it wasn't his dad and his mind was just messing with him. Last night's ep confirms the Mr. Robot did take the form of his father but if you want to pretend you weren't wrong about that cool. We can keep playing the didn't pay attention to detail card until the finale.

I never said it wasn't his father b.

All I said is that he wasn't real, not that he didn't take the form of his father.

It's all good though fam, I ain't tryna come at you or anything, just happy that my theory was right.

Them stickers.

Fsociety leaving it's trail... kinda like Fight Club leaving a trail.

Mr. Robot been on that bus and train before.  So Elliot goes missing as Mr. Robot but we don't see the timeline clearly.

What you think bro?

It was super obvious that Mr Robot and Elliott could be the same person, it wasn't really that hard to notice the clues they dropped... some of us just thought they could have those clues or hints as misdirection and other possibilities still existed. I thought that would have been more interesting since those Mr Robot isn't real clues were so obvious, that if it was just misdirection.

And as for the difference in language.. basically Swedes/Danes/Norwegians can all understand each other pretty well. So they can speak their native tongue since it's more comfortable, but they still understand each other.

It's very common for Swedish/Danish/Norwegians to speak their native language to each other. So if there were a situation where you would one person from each country there would probably be an 3 language conversation. These three languages are quite similar, Danish is probably the hardest for the other two because of all of the words almost melting together when spoken. In Sweden there is a saying about the Danish language that goes "spotta ut gröten" or "spit out the porridge (before you speak)".
The written languages are so similar that as a part of the native language classes in school you also have to learn some of the other languages. This would be somewhere in age similar to the American high-school.
For example when I've worked / lived in Norway (several years) I've always been speaking Swedish. Where there are words that are the same but with different meaning I've just exchanged for the Norwegian word to minimize confusion. Just an example the word for Calm in norwegian means Fun in Swedish.
The reason we don't all speak the same language is probably because of that each one of us is proud of our own nation/language. Plus we don't really need to change our own language to speak to the other two.
TLDR: Languages are similar but not the same. Written language is more similar than spoken. Culture and history probably the reason for not merging languages.

When I asked you what you thought of the reveal and if it was just a hallucination messing with Elliot your reply was "Yep."

This past ep shows the the form taken was in fact Elliot's dad, not just some random guy. He isn't a real person, yeah but it wasn't all just to mess with Elliot. It still all tied in to what we saw with the Darlene is his sister reveal.

Reminds me of Occupy Wall Street, i.e., a controversial and social movement to gain awareness and action. As for the timeline, it's hard to differentiate given Elliot's unreliable narration, but in any case I'm more curious on Elliot and Tyrell's trip to the Coney Island arcade and the conversation that ensued.

Do yall think Christian Slater will be back for next season or nah?
If he doesnt, its a different show............
I like how he said at the graveyard they can never take him away from Eliott and that he will always be with him.
But I just dont know if that was it of that dynamic

she's sexy as hell. whether she's speaking German (can someone clarify?) or in English

I feel bad for Tyrell. Not only did he lose that sweet piece of ***; but dude banged another dude, didnt get the job, and got fired in the process.

They are speaking Swedish and Danish.........................................I don't think it took much for Tyrell to bang the guy, he either did it before or made the decision a long time ago that he would "do anything" to get ahead. Either way he isn't walking away mad about it. He and his wife have that kind of relationship, similar to Francis and Claire. I find it funny that he tried to down Elliott for making revenge be his motivation, but he let envy and every other emotion rule him on that roof.

Tyrell really did bang that guy for NO reason at all smh

 You would think so, but I have a feeling he enjoyed it too. Whether it is the control/power he has doing that to a person [man/woman], or he has dabbled in that world in the past.

Folks were questioning that from the jump

Like, all he really did was place that bug in his phone right? Folks were asking why he couldn't have found another way to do that

I honestly felt like Tyrell was killing two birds with one stone, I said when it happened that he had a curiosity. He definitely has urges and other stuff going on, I wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to experience it

I was suprised USA Network let the directors show THAT much Tootie-Tyrell action. I was shocked when I saw this stuff in GoT, but seeing that scene on regular cable TV. Wow lol.

After watching Spartacus, I'm not surprised anymore :smh:

The 180 turn that Tyrell's wife did was interesting. She took that drastic step at their house to save Tyrell "I won't let them take you", then at the hospital after she gave birth she was so cold to him "don't touch me, I no longer want to be with you". It's like the baby sobered her up and/or she was basically giving Tyrell an ultimatum. Get out of this or leave the family...

Her hormones and emotions are on 10 after having the baby. Seeing her newborn and thinking about her daughter probably changed how she feels about what he did. To be honest he did F it up. All dude had to do was smash shorty, then take pics. Emotions got the better of him, and he turns something as wonderful as choking during sex into murder.

Joanna was always calm and calculating, while he consistently showed how erratic he can be.

Someone from the Crew working for the other team isn't a reach, that's like the next step in any show. The traitor angle

I was already skep on Trenton.
Seeing that popcorn popping though, that wasn't an accident I don't think. Someone was in there prior to them entering, why hide
?

Reach, we shall see. I hope not though, shows are better when someone is a traitor.

Did something happen that would spark discussion about a traitor in the crew.

I think that was the last we'll see of him besides flashbacks unfortunately.

He was phenomenal on this show, definitely proved that he's still a great actor.

This show :pimp: :pimp: :pimp: :pimp: :pimp:

Can't wait for the finale. I love the fact that the show is thought provoking enough that we are all theorizing, but also drops plenty of hints and information revealed through an unreliable narrator so that none of the reveals are straight deus ex machina.

I think the popcorn machine clip at the end of the episode certainly foreshadows the gun coming into play.

It does seem like the lead character stole all of Dexter's cool though doesn't it....

He kept saying don't let them get rid of me.

It's pretty clear being off his meds created the hallucination.

Darlene says she's gonna get Elliot's meds and he says what's the point.

He may stay off his meds and Mr. Robot will stick around or he'll be in a limited role with Elliot unsure if he wants the hallucination around or not. Then something may happen in S2 where Elliot is convinced he needs Mr. Robot and doesn't take his meds again and finds some other way to manage it or being self-medicating again.

If he goes back on  his meds then Fsociety as well as Mr. Robot dies?

This can't happen.

It's honestly not totally clear.

When the show starts Elliot is already off his meds and self-medicating with morphine. Doing that is what appears caused his memory problems. The only other shady thing he's been doing is taking down bad ppl the authorities can't find like that child porn club at that coffee shop.

Elliot is asked by Tyrell when this all started and he doesn't know. He really doesn't. Darlene asks him if he remembers starting fsociety and he doesn't answer. It implies that he has no clue when he came up with the idea, the plan, and when he recruited ppl. That has yet to be shown. He has no memories as Mr. Robot. We can assume he was in the Mr. Robot personality when he did everything.

According to Elliot, before he realized he is Mr. Robot, he was recruited to fsociety just like everybody else by his hallucination 3 months ago. To Elliot his first time working with them was the Allsafe hack and framing Kolby. Remember how he acted, he was all shocked, he was about to turn fsociety in and crash everything (clearly not aware he'd be snitching on himself).

So I think it comes down to what meds he was prescribed. They may not have been right for him and caused the split personality where he was operating as Mr. Robot and completely unaware. So taking his meds may just make him think all of that Mr. Robot and fsociety stuff went away. Not taking his meds is when things started crashing down and worlds began to collide.

I finally watched fight club for the first time last night to see what everyone was talking about. Within the first five minutes, I felt like this show ripped it to the max

Yeah it was so obvious.

Show is still great without that angle though.
