Is Flight Clubs inflation prices worth the peace of mind?

Whats up guys,

Long time sneaker head - now just really getting back in the game selectively. We all know Flight Clubs prices can be outrageous at times - but I openly admit I have made several big purchases from them including 2 pair of Cement III's I felt were staples and long sought after by me personally.

With the influx of fakes / grade B's / and unauthorized copies getting better and better on the market now - I feel it's almost too risky to shop eBay etc as the possibility of getting burned on a fake pair is high! Of course - check sellers feedback - etc , I've been selling/ shopping eBay years now - but seems like variants are all too common and getting harder to distinguish.

End all be all question is to you guys - on certain pairs of kicks IE: Bred/ Royal / Shadow 1's - which I'm looking to add to the collection - is the added inflation of flight club pricing really worth it?

Hard coughing up 1k on sneakers ... am I wrong?

IMO no......but this is coming from soeone who would never pay over retail for a pair of sneakers.  If I miss out on release day, there is always next sadderday.

There are other shops that are legit and with better prices that Flight Club.

Sole Supremacy is my personal favorite.

Check out Rif LA too, they are legit just like Flight Club, however they don't charge as much.

Those guys are the worst of the worst when it comes to pricing. They want $800 for SJs.

I've found and bought some deals on there. I got some 88 WC 3's for a good deal from them.

I'd say 'no'.

now if this was 15 years ago and sneakers were more exclusive, then I may would encourage you to spend that on a pair of shoes.  but these days, there's just too much stuff out to even justify spending 1000 on one pair.  I mean, when I see a dude with royals on now days, I'm like "meh, royals....frags are dope, chi 1s are dope, breds are dope, black n whites are dope, etc".

if you're cool enough and confident enough, you can get the same reaction in a pair of huaraches.

1k on a pair of shoes is just...not smart.  this is just my opinion because its not my money.

me personally..... I'd rather actually HAVE money than try to look like I have money

I have not picked up a pair of shoes from flightclub since the first skunk dunks back in 2009.

Not to say I would never buy from fc again but from what they charge i'll shop somewhere else.

It all depends on the consumer. If he or she feels that pair of sneakers is worth that much to them who are we to tell them otherwise it's there money.

But still,I like shoes as much as the next head but shellin out 1K for a pair sneakers is just downright foolish to me

All some very good points here - and thats reason I started this thread.

I look @ both pair of III's I purchased from flight club and haven't even worn them ONCE! And they're half the price of Royals/Fragments.

It's actually insane that prices inflate so much by the market from retail to XXXX in this case upwards of over 1k.

Were talking sneakers here - not designer shoes. YES - I'm as big a sneaker head as everyone else here but prices like those are crazy.

You can -and as it was mentioned in this thread - regrid your whole outfit - rock a pair of half as value kicks and still be fresh to death!

Thanks for the heads up on RIF - gonna keep tabs on them - eBay's too risky.

Are RIF's "worn pairs" generally top notch? Never have dealt with them.

If we do not have FCNY then how do we compare prices?

But on a serious note, check out Image-ny (peep the signature)

definitely cheaper than FCNY. And if youre able to visit the store, they have in-store deals no posted on their website. I've gotten some GREAT deals

i was always hoping they would open shop in Manhattan

i would be consigning alot more with shops again since they take used shoes

My thoughts exactly. I wouldn't pay over retail for a PS4 or a phone, and I won't for a pair of shoes

dude 15 years ago nothing was exclusive

there was only less then a hand full of sites that where able to get older stock and not one shoe on any of the original reselling sties sold anything over $400.00 if that

new release where brought in nike account holding stores and you could buy days even weeks after release date and at discount
a few shoes back in the late 90's early 2000's had line up's

but non of this limited nonsense we have today

i know this for a fact

did you buy both pairs of 3's for a $1000.00 or a grand each because both shoes go for the $600.00 to $800.00 range on FC

what size did you get ?

Both pairs were roughly about 1k.

Still dead stock in boxes

It depends OP for the most part i would say no but if it's something you really want and have the money to drop then FC copping is cool

Check out Sole Supremacy, as well.

Might check out Pound 4 Pound as well.. They have a shop here in Phoenix (haven't been yet) and one out in LA somewhere as well.. prices aren't quite as bad as FC on most stuff and they usually have a pretty decent selection of things as well..

And to answer your other question, to each their own on how they spend their money..

but unless I won the lottery, I wouldn't be seen dropping $1K+ on a single pair of shoes.. I mean for that you could easily cop at least 2 pairs of other shoes you would still want, maybe even 3 or 4 depending on what you were after.. Again everybody has their own decisions to make and if you can afford it, than more power to you..

Flightclub prices can be ridiculous. But you have to pay a tax for that peice of mind. Their prices on a lot of stuff is right in line with other sights like rif. Sometimes rif's even more on some stuff. Either way there is a bunch of legit sights and sellers out there. You could find stuff on ebay but you gotta make your way through the bs. Rep means nothing. Receipts mean nothing. You really gotta be an educated consumer to buy from there. Also you can always post potential pairs in the legit check forums. As for spending a stack on shoes, if you got loot and can pay your stuff i see nothing wrong with dropping that cash. Best of luck!

If someone is financially stable then dropping any amount they are comfortable with is ok in my books. But priorities always need to be taken care of first. Too many ppl go really deep with this sneaker trend and don't really think about their future and that's when it becomes a problem. Even if you spend 1k on a shoe, it's not completely loss, even in vnds condition you can probably get back $600-800 range depending on the shoe or if the value goes up even higher. There's worse things you can buy where the money is gone completely after u purchase it or depreciates much faster.

No matter what my financial situation is I can't justify parting with $1k or even $500 for that matter. At what price is it worth impressing people? Especially with a subpar product. Regardless of how exclusive a pair is there barely worth the retail we pay for them. Jb adds about 30% to every previous release shoe and we're at the point we don't see the value. At the end of the day even those shoes that Only have a few in existence are the same exact shoe you have in your closet just a different colorway. Whenever I part with my money I need to see value and ending up $1k lighter at the end of the day with a pair of frags in my closet would make me feel real stupid especially considering they retailed for a fraction of that cost. I decide what a shoe is worth not anyone else and if the value isn't there they can stay where their at
