Same Sex Marriage Is The Law Of the Land

Check out free republic if you want to see supposedly unabashed America lovers openly ask for doom and gloom.

Sorta a gulity pleasure of mine.

Congratulations to those this effects, always glad to see progress.

Ok. Now that everyone can love who they want to love....

Can I toke up now? Jesus.

LEGALIZE IT
We all know that the US has more work do.

That doesn't mean you should attempt to hijack another group's moment for your own agenda.
My eyes that look are on the present, my eye that sees is always on the future famo.

Don't hate the kid.

Funny thing is a lot of conservatives are happy too, they just can't show it.

It's the right thing to do so I'm glad it passed.

Republicans are losing the culture war it seems (with immigration & gay rights). Demographic trends are running against them & I'm glad they are.

I hope they continue to embrace the christian right & tea party aspects of their party though...

I'm not in a comical mood to switch over to fox for the lulz.

But it's got to be off the chain.

Good to see the republicans take some serious Ls this weak (even though Obamacare is seriously flawed).

It's all about money. Someone convinced someone that the country would make more money from more marriages/licenses/divorces.

Legalizing herb would kill pharmaceuticals because it's the miracle drug. This country's true motto is money over morals.

Word. Y'all really think they give a damb.

This is a great day and will be the start to force all kinds of people who discriminate in any fashion, against people who like the same sex or different skin color or race, to take a deep look at themselves and question the very foundation of which those views are held upon and say we can all love one another and i don't need to hate fellow man.

Smokescreen for the TPP? :nerd:

Don't worry about that Nonsense, have a nice acid trip with a guide or meditate, at some point you and many will see that we are all one and that seperation is nothing but an illusion. Currently we exist as physical beings but that's only because it was the modality for which our souls do work to go back home and merge with the one love. So ain't nothing to worry about.

The ban on gay marriage just changed for Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, Nebraska, North & South Dakota, Texas, Ohio, & Tennessee. These states all worked to keep the ban in place until today.

are the financial/tax benefits of marriage that significant for married folks than over singles?

I'm reading this and its not really registering to me...what does it all mean? my married friends have told me they have gotten sizable tax returns back, but one couple has a kid and the other was/is a student (both of which allow for larger returns, i think, right?)
Thank heavens for the standard deduction! In a rare flash of generosity, the Internal Revenue Service  (IRS) gives all taxpayers a sizable automatic deduction from their taxable income. For single taxpayers in 2013, the standard deduction is $6,100. But for married couples  filing jointly, the deduction is exactly twice as much: $12,200. When you add in the personal and dependent exemptions you have some serious tax savings. The IRS reports than nearly two-thirds of all taxpayers take the standard deduction, and we don't blame them [source: Internal Revenue Service].

The standard deduction used to be one of the greatest causes of the marriage penalty. Before Congress passed the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001, the standard deduction for married couples was less than twice the amount for singles [source: Tax Policy Center]. While it didn't significantly contribute to the divorce rate, it was widely viewed as unfair. Now married couples can collect their full share of free deductions. Just don't rub it in to your single friends.

the economics/financial aspects of marriage are fascinating, yet scary, at the same damb time...
