Couple quits job and travel the world in boat

Leave it to NT to bring race into this. Pretty obvious that most of you haven't done any backpacking, exploring through foreign countries. Staying at American owned hotels and taking tour buses doesn't count. If you did you would know it's not just white people making decisions like this.

I also find it funny that some have said that this "isn't logical" or bringing up how they are missing on retirement savings. Have you ever thought that maybe it isn't logical to work 40-60hrs a week for your whole life just to be able to (maybe) not work when you turn 65? Your life could end at any moment but you were so worried about clocking in on time, working for someone else, looking forward for your TWO WEEKS paid vacation every year, retirement savings, 1 hr lunch break, paying your mortgage off, etc. no wonder so many people in the USA are miserable.

Congrats to the couple in the article. And the cat.

I just watched a LAW & ORDER episode where these guys take a Yacht full of people out on a cruise, (there's Blow everywhere / womens in bikini / champagne pouring out) then they Kill Innocent people from Africa on boats claiming that they're pirates. On some sick HOSTEL type ish............. the sick thing is that most Law & Order episodes are based on actual events!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THEY AINT NO LAW & ORDER IN THEM SEAS.......... forget all that......

Also this story looks like one of those SPAM links... It's like Not real news, but it's news

OP went from wanting 4 cars and renting a place to traveling the world on a boat

I don't like boats, I'd go crazy out at sea.  I was saying it was cool that they said forget the system and did things their way
I know what you mean OP.
I know several families of different sizes who said eff it, left their suburb homes and cushy corp. jobs and moved into the middle of the country to get off grid and out the system. Some said they felt like they weren't really living and valuing the most important resource: people/ family. They bought mad acres for cheap, grow own food and have live stock. Use Solar panels and generators for power. Wood burning stove for heat. Has a network of like minded doctors and contractors for specialty needs. They also use the barter system when they can. I remember one of my homies told me he cancelling
is cell and told me to write him. A letter  Wonder how dude is doing...

Sad but that's pretty much all the news these days

You can do whatever you want if you actually follow through with your plans. Well not whatever but a lot of people with the "must be nice" Attitude just aren't go getters.

Millenial bro....you definitely post stuff that fits your name.

I said this in Millenial's other posts. The reason why we think it takes courage to do this is a couple of things. We come from a generation that is taught to save money for safety reasons and even come from a generation that loves to live in the present. My folks were taught to save every nickel and dime to better the generation after you and my generation is to think in that model to live with "no regrets" and to spend money on things whenever deemed fit.

The couple doing this is sort of a combination of both. I didn't quite read the whole article but if I was to try and do that, I would have to live simple in my early years and save all my money in hopes to benefit in my mid years in life. Most people would never want to do that since they'd miss out on their so called prime of their life. Of course this isn't the smartest thing to do but nowadays if you came back from a 3 year absence from traveling the world, I honestly believe a job would take that person in without doubting their work ethics.

The biggest no no is to not doing anything at all. Even if you decide to call it quits on work, do something that leaves a nice papertrail in your life.

Courage.

Probably some ******* trust fund babies doing what the **** they want.

Mannnn i wish my brown *** would do some **** like this. Border patrol, customs, AND coast guard would be askin me about drugs

..so what happens when the vacation is over? Ya go to your old boss begging for ya job back? Find a new career? This isn't practical, at all.
who says it has to be over?
The money doesn't run out, or what?

Some people have a lot more to worry about and can't afford to just throw their careers away.

Huh? You'd think that through. Changing your lifestyle isn't throwing your career and savings in the trash.

You wanna sail the world? Cool, think of a way to work anywhere via computer. Graphics design, trading, investing. The possibilities are endless. Get your business set up and stable and do it.

Nothing is easy but if you want to live life on your terms it's worth it.

They probably left daddys business so they could go back at anytime it must be nice to just have everything handed to you

All of this is risky and, like I said, some people have a lot more to worry about.

Yeah I know. Some people take risks some don't. Not everyone's personality would let them do it.

Everyone has obligations but you don't have to let them rule your life.

People do this all the time. It's a deep blue sea out there. This couple is still alive to tell their story.

Right, some people don't take risks because they can't afford to. Not everyone is born into great wealth or lives selfishly.

Or you just work really hard in your current situation to set up some good income of your own while still employed. Like I said it ain't for everybody.

bruh... Don't use the "system" as an excuse to what these folks are doing. Their are plenty of folks out here doing volunteer work or getting paid kibble and bits on the frontline fighting the system.

I met this guy (black guy) on Sunday that did just did. He graduated college, didnt know what to do and entered the army. Lived frugally from 22 to 26 and saved 10k each year.

With that 50k him and his girlfriend took the next 5 years off and lived in many different countries around the world.

Now, he's 31 and back to a job. Going to rinse and repeat.

Agreed, never understood that line of thinking. Ask anyone in their 50s or 60s if they would trade their wealth just be in their 20s and 30s again.

In America, anyone can live this lifestyle if they are determined.

I don't know why some of you guys are bringing up skin color like non white people couldn't do this or like there aren't any non white ppl that have done this

If you asked people most of them would've guessed the couple were white.
