I personally hold off on trading until there is an opponent's need I can exploit.
For me, I spent X amount of time mocking, setting custom rankings (necessary for certain formats), and doing my homework on players, I'd like to see how guys I drafted pan out before I start fielding trades.
I went WR heavy and utilized my RB-light approach in one of my leagues. I drafted a lot of young RBs who may supplant the current starting RB for their respective teams.
I know I have somewhat of a deficiency at RB, but my team was built in such a way that as the season progresses, I could end up with a gamut of high-ceiling rookie RBs (Duke Johnson Jr, David Johnson, Tevin Coleman) as lead backs. In the interim the mid-round RBs I took (Stewart, Spiller*, Jennings) will suffice.
