SO I GOT BANNED FOR NOT TIPPING LOL

Average salary for teachers here in Jersey is about 60k which is both surprising and pleasing to see being that my girlfriend is in school for education. I thought it would be about 20k lower but apparently Jersey is consistently ranked top 5 in terms of teacher salaries. But I did see a lot of states come in with low 40s and even down to low 30s which is just insane to me. I don't know the economics behind it, but it just seems like robbery to me that some get paid that poorly, especially in this country. Then you factor in the funding that's constantly being cut from schools, it's criminal. I just don't understand how education is ever a field where you even consider slashing funding. When we're constantly increasing military funding, spending billions on things we don't need. This country is *** backwards man.

Nurses deal with 1 adult at a time.
Teachers deal with 25+ kids at a time.

Do you really need more of an explanation than that? Teaching children is hard in the best of circumstances.

Teaching children that don't have disciple and are disillusioned about the need for education tests the patience of even the strongest willed and positive people.

I've worked many jobs in my life including door to door sales in a recession, retail, 14 hour days in accounting, etc. I've also taught both in America and abroad.

Nothing is harder than teaching. There is no mental break when there are students in your classroom. And if you are a good teacher they are there during your lunch and after school hours too.
Let's not combat ignorance with more ignorance.

If you think nurses just deal with one person at a time, good lord you're naive.

Wowwwww...For a "teacher" that is a very ignorant, and incorrect statement there sir. I work in the hospital and nurses do not deal with "1 adult at a time". They deal with MULTIPLE patients who are in pain and who are frustrated and needy, Ego driven doctors and surgeons who yell at them and treat them like ish, other health care professionals in regards to the patient care, MULTIPLE family members who are upset and frustrated, etc, the list goes on. I don't think teaching is an easy job by any means, and I understand you are offended by those who make claims that teaching is easy, however, this doesn't mean you should make ridiculous and incorrect statements to defend yourself and the teaching career.

Oh and PS Pediatric Nurses deal with those same non-disciplined, and disillusioned children as well, only difference is they are in pain and sick, which makes it even harder

I don't think he meant 1 patient. Im pretty sure he meant when a nurse walks into a room there is usually only 1 patient waiting, where as a teach will always have 25+ kids in the classroom at a single time

They still juggling 8-15 patients depending on the hospital for 12 hours straight with maybe a 30 minute break that most don't even take....these patients sometimes end up going into cardiac arrest, dying or they might get new admissions trough the day, least a teacher meets his/her students at the beginning of the year, depending on how good the teacher is, the kids WILL respect her/him or run all over them, is all up to the teacher really....the dude I know has his kids on lock they love him and respect him and he can literally teach them with his eyes closed....you set the tone and let these kids know, they'll respect you, we all been through school, we all know there was certain teachers you could run over and others you knew best not to **** with.

No matter how good a nurse you are, whatever goes down in your shift is completely out of your control, these nurses be stressed.

I'm a respiratory therapist, being that my hospital is small is literally only two of us taking on the whole hospital through the night, I have 5 floors all with patients to tend to routinely not to mention any new admissions and unexpected crashing patients

then answer me this @ksteezy why is it when i asked our nurse if she'd rather be a teacher she laughed and said eff no. also, she bought 2 brand new condo$ here in honolulu by herself.

Are you a police officer? I'm sure being a nurse for a station is easy as **** compared to being one in a hospital or a nursing home.

Yall really think these patients are oh so nice

sadly mistaken

And children are?

Hell no! Both are tough jobs in their own way IMO

agreed, I honestly don't think I have the patience to do either

I could be a teacher but it has to be at a good school. Personally couldn't be a teacher at a low income poor scoring school. I would do more preaching then teaching to them knuckleheads

lol no. not a police officer. i work in a drug rehab and the nurse only works here about 10 hours/week. she works in a hospital and rakes in plenty of OT. she also said she's had patients spit at her, threaten to kill her etc. she said she'd get the same thing as a teacher but get paid way less

Varies bro, I'm sure if I ask some teachers if they would trade their career for working as a nurse, I'd get the same reaction...lol

And this is in Honolulu bro...lol she don't need a long summer vacation to enjoy a vacation-like lifestyle....she's good.

In NYC is a different beast bro.

Nurses also don't pay for things their patients need out of their own pockets. It's why I never understood when some parents get upset when they're handed a list of items in the beginning of the school year that the teacher would like. It's not even a demand. It's a request to help them teach YOUR children

yeah man. I remember one of my teachers couldn't afford to buy the basic necessities like paper, pencils, calculators, tissues etc. And I went to one of the best public schools around here. Education is really at the bottom of the barrel as far as government funding which is sad. Teachers wages here haven't risen in over 10 plus years which is ridiculous. Being the red right wing state that NC is the republicans feel that education funding is the least of our issues, forcing me to pay 80 percent of my taxes to military and defense funding. Give me a break.

its even more sad than that. funding to build schools are separate from actually funding the schools. so what do they do? they build nice schools in rich ares and funnel the poor areas into one or more schools. now who controls this? 1. the school district to get their test scores higher from the now richer schools, 2. the parents of the rich students who will vote/pull funding to the new schools if they dont redo district lines to suit their needs.

again, america is backwards

i could go on forever
