SO I GOT BANNED FOR NOT TIPPING LOL

Theres a stereotype that black people dont or type very little. I tip off of that mostly.

I cant stand black folks that uphold stereotypes. Like, really?!?! You really gonna act exactly like they say we do?!?
I also heard this one about us eating chicken......................
Stop eating chicken..... simple.

I recently stopped buying watermelon because of this.

I'm thinking about quitting hoop and drinking grape soda too.

I didn't tip ONCE at a Denny's probably 6 months back
If your black, you ain't supposed to be in that **** anyway

Again, so base off that stereotype if they give you ****** service, what do you want us to do? Leave a huge tip anyways to impress them? **** that. It's what my dad seems to do.

Again, I can understand not tipping for bad service, but if service was good I'm tipping.

Tipping is mandatory though, regardless of the circumstances. At least to me it is. I would never go out to eat and not tip, its just not right.

Why is it not right?
Because you know how the structure works, and by not tipping you basically put that person through an hour of work for like 2 dollars. That doesnt sit right with me man not at all

1. If the structure is flawed why contribute to it? The onus shouldn't be on the patron to pay the wages owed to an employee by their employer.

b. An hour of refilling my glass ain't exactly strenuous work.

III. It's not like they're only waiting on me during that hour, just standing by the table with a jug of water in their hand, automatically pouring after every sip. Half the time they're ghost working on getting tips from someone else.

Every black person upholds at least one stereotype so I guess you must dislike all of us.

I'm sorry you feel that way.

Clearly that isnt the case, so why argue semantics you know what I meant. But just in case If you go out to eat you should tip regardless of the circumstances, I DO NOT CARE WHAT HAPPENS during the meal. You go out, you tip your waiter, preferably in cash because some establishments pool tips left directly on the check for all servers and only the person who serves you deserves the tip and they can choose to divide it amongst anyone who helped them.

That is my philosophy on tipping and I will never deviate from it.
That's fine but why do you have to impose your philosophy on others who differ from yours? That, I have an issue with.
I didnt impose it on anyone. I just stated my opinion, one that I know will be far off from what the majority believes so I wouldnt even bother trying to do so.

The deviation part was in reference to the fact that I would never not tip somewhere I went to eat ever.

How bout placing the blame on the owners?

Why have I not heard anyone say "If you can't afford to pay your employees a minimal wage don't own a restraint?"

I just don't get why the burden of employee compensation is placed on the customer.

Can anyone explain that?

It makes ZERO sense.

Employee compensation would come from the customer regardless. If they outlawed tipping in America, the cost would be added into the price of the food and you'd be paying it anyway. Who cares if they skip a step and it goes straight to the waiter/waitress? Whether or not you think the system is flawed is irrelevant because any system in place is going to have to pay the employees.

i have never had service so bad that i didnt want to tip

over fathers day weekend the lady missed that my brother ordered crab. He started his stopwatch and said it took 14 mins for it to come out after the rest of the family received their food and he was ranting about it for the next hour :smh:

Crazy how many people don't tip in here and trying to justify it. :smh:

Usually I started at 20% and go down depending on service. Folks don't want to tip should just stick to carry out and fast food joints IMO.

Poor lady didn't do anything to not justify tipping. OP was being cheap.

If there is a reason not to tip, by all means...save your $. From what OP described, this wasn't one of those instances.

Would it make them do better if they got their wages up front, more or less likely to spit in customer's foods now since they're getting their $10 or whatever it is in their paycheck, less likely to pick and choose when and for what customers to do their jobs based on their expectations of tips?

You don't have to worry about getting not tipped anymore but the same time, you won't get to work during the SuperBowl and make $400 in a few hours.

I think if you gave them a choice, most would choose with tips, since they're going to get min wage anyways in all but a few states, and you get the option of getting huge tippers too rather than being capped at whatever wage number their unscrupulous owners decide.

I live off tips and I don't always tip when I'm out. It's ridiculous to say you have to tip EVERY time. If you did a bare minimum job you're not getting anything from me. If I'm in a group setting I'll tip just to not look like an *******.

I don't get mad when someone doesn't tip because of two reasons 1. I took the job knowing what I was getting in to 2. The person isn't legally required to tip. Arguing anything past that is dumb. All y'all can call non tippers scum all you want but guess what? They're still walking out with a full stomach after paying exact change. If they don't like it they can get a better job. If they can't get a better job they can suck it up.

Dudes be throwing money at servers/waiters/bartenders/delivery drivers just because of societies standards. Which is cool with me because I live off tips and can make 20-30 an hour on a 7 hour shift. On the flip side there will of course be nights where I make dirt. It's all a part of the game. Honestly I'd prefer if the price was just factored into the cost of the meal/service from the beginning. Get rid of gratuity and tipping.

I feel him. I'm not saying that you should tip no matter what. If the service is bad, then the tip should reflect that.

I guess a lotta you dudes who are against tipping are totally against welfare programs and universal healthcare too. :D

I like how people say "get a better job" as if things are that easy. Some of yall are either out of touch or have no compassion.

You never know the reasons for why people work the jobs that they do. No need to feel sorry, but the last thing you should be doing is basing your opinion off of a judgement.

Because we all been there bruh. I don't got time to throw money at you because of a pity party. That's the cold hard truth. Nobody said it's easy to just pick up a job for everyone. I am saying that you can't expect people to help you just because of your bad situation.

Living off tips you know who I blame when someone doesn't tip me? Myself.

Ayo, what donut shop you work at? I'd tip for your integrity.

It's one thing to tip for good service but tipping so that they don't mess with my food is bogus

Do your job properly, if you're so bitter that you're willing to mess with someone's food because of a tip then thats probably the reason you're a low life bum working for tips

I think it's a ridiculously simple mindset to suggest someone get another job. It's laughable, really.

Pity party is if I said you should feel sorry for someone working the job that they do. I never did. All I said is that there should be some sort of compassion towards a server if your thinking is "well, they should get another job if they don't want to deal with me not tipping." You don't know the reason why people work the jobs that they do. Simple as that. Suggesting someone get another job is ridiculous egocentric.
