SO I GOT BANNED FOR NOT TIPPING LOL

You guys tipping at fast food places. It's technically eating out and there is no ambiguity in regards to what they are earning... Bare minimum wage.

If she ain't making a livable wage whose fault is that
Ain't mine
Get another job
Dont get tips at my job
I ain't trippin
I agree with you to an extent, and best believe I give ****** tip with ****** service. What's more insulting no tip or .47?

It will be your problem if the tip system disappears and you paying 90 dollars for your 30 dollar pizza.

You did nothing wrong brotha

 Just sharing my stance

Not tipping your barber is lame, trust me that your barber will look out for you more if he knows what to expect from you and viceversa, I've been with mines for about 8 years, cuts have gone from 10-15$ in those 8 years, from the jump I paid 10$ and tipped 5$...guess what, he still charges me 10$...I call him in advance, tells me how long so I don't have to wait much before sitting down, if he knows I'm in a rush he will put me in front of others, he even has different razors he uses for tippers and non-tippers, best believe he ain't wasting the quality razors on some cheap dude who can't eem throw him 2$

Seriously tho...lol is just good etiquette

If you cheap, you just cheap, nothing wrong with it, just OWN IT....don't mask it with "is not my duty to make up for poor pay" or whatever other reasons you guys come up with, if you put that much thought and effort into a couple of bucks extra for a service, you just cheap...lol

I'm still laughing at people saying the cost of the meal only covers the food  can't be serious to think your 20 dollar meal actually cost the restaurant 20 dollars to make.

People are also forgetting that people say they WONT tip of the service is horrible not just because no matter what.

This "but they need an incentive to do a good job" talk is pathetic. don't need to even go into that

Writing reviews on Yelp naming names on good or bad service is also efficient

Sea manup is leading the "Stupid Americans and their Tipping Laws" coalition to his grave. Guy is still drunk from Canada day.

We have wage exceptions in the USA that allow employers to pay below minimum wage on service jobs that depend on tips. If your parents were in the service industry and paid for your diapers with tips maybe you would have a different view.

OP even said himself the service wasn't terrible. if it was terrible you have reason to walk away with no tip.

The cheapness is real.

But here's the key difference:

The price of a meal is the price of a meal. Someone displeased by that price would simply have to either shut the hell up and pay it or not eat there.

Adding the tip into the price from the start eliminates the part of the affair where the patron has an option and can make a choice based on their individual outlook. Giving someone two perfectly legal options and then condemning one of them makes no sense.

If everyone is supposed to tip anyway, then don't pretend that they have the option not to; build that right into the menu and let the only decision people have to make be whether they want to eat there still or not.
But then the waiter or waitress really has no incentive to offer you good service, since they will get paid regardless

What incentive does every other employee in the world have to do thier job? Aside from things liike personal pride, you service industry dudes, just like everyone else csan be fired and replaced. In fact, given that it requires about a 3rd grade education (probably less, the Korean and Mexican spots down here that are family owned literally have their not even preteen aged kids waiting tables now) and is "low skill," you are more infinitely replaceable than most other careers. Pretty much be able to carry about 30lbs, read and write, and walk and you're a candidate.

Spare me that no incentive to do a good job carrying plates from here to there nonsense.

And they woudnt have to raise the price of food items 600% to get waiter wages from $2.50 to $15

you guys seriously eat fast food? disgusting bros.

It's funny everyone is ******** on being a waiter and saying stuff like get a better job. Probably the same people in all the other threads crying about equality but when it benefits you, you don't care to have sympathy for people with a lesser job than you. And servers make good money when they don't have to deal with cheap ***** like half of you

Fact.

But in Cali they make a livable wage so it's moot in this case

12.00 dollars a livable wage? In California?

When a person decides to go out to eat in this country, they are entering into a sort of contract if you will. Anyone who has eaten out in Europe can attest to this, their prices are ridiculous, I am talking 40% increasw for food costs alone and gratuity is included I believe. Needless to say the reason you can take your girl out for a decent meal that is less than 50/60 bucks is because the system is based on you tipping.

i think you're making "get another job" easier than it really is.

Teachers don't make a livable wage. Go tip them next time you get a chance

I don't get this "well you can't just not let them have a livable wage!" Talk when there are soooooo many other jobs that don't either. For some reason someone bussing tables deserves hand outs and not the lady at the mall or the secretary at your school...... But the waitress!! OMG tip them!

And yes "get a better job" is easier said and done but the cold hard truth is.... TOO BAD. People bust their but to put them in better positions. That's life

If someone works at McDonald's people already assume they're lazy and deserve min wage. A waiter for some reason is a go getter that deserves their bills to be paid for. Funny thing is the both do the SAME THING

Not tipping can mean 3 things. 1. Frugality - 2. Moral stance on the stuipd concept of tipping - 3. Or simply being cheap. For most that don't tip in this thread, they fall into category 1 and 2.

Cheap is when you buy replicas(grey market), when you can afford to get the authentics at the higher price tag and front or make excuses that they are authentic.

Ive felt that way at times. Why should I pay you to do a job you're already getting paid to do? Great service should be rewarded not standard or mediocre.

However the sad reality is most owners pay below minimum and justify it by saying with tips it will average to at least minimum. So tipping is unfortunately a requirement ... I couldn't not tip knowing I'm messing up someone livelihood.

It's like OP doesn't realize that the servers and co have to clean up after he and his family after they leave a mess. TIP the people and stop being a cheap ***.
