I'm curious how you NT brethren became interested in your teams? Whether it be location, childhood, logos, etc. I'm interested in how you guys became fans of your teams? I became interested in my teams by location. Growing up in the Chicago, I became a fan of the Bulls, Blackhawks, Bears, and White Sox. I became a fan of the White Sox because when I was about 8 of 9, I went to a White Sox game and loved it. They have been my team ever since.

The Lakers drafted the "next Michael Jordan"
The Lakers pick up the most dominant Center.
Both of them want to win championships.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Fan since '97
August 31,1997

In 1997, things turned for the Buccaneers, and it began with a visit from the 49ers. The 1997 opener became the launching point for a new era of the Buccaneers. Playing their first regular-season game in their new red and pewter uniforms, the Buccaneers unleashed a defensive onslaught against Young, Jerry Rice and company.  San Francisco was held without a touchdown for the first time in six years and DT Warren Sapp led the Bucs' defense with 11 tackles and 2.5 sacks, in the process inadvertently injuring both Young and Rice.

The Bucs won, 13-6, starting a five-game winning streak that would land them on the cover of Sports Illustrated, point them towards the playoffs for the first time in 15 years and begin the legend of the Buccaneers' defense of the mid-90s to mid-00s.

That rise that began in 1997 culminated in the Buccaneers' 2002 Super Bowl season.

First time I ever saw Dan Marino throw a football, I was in.
Grew up near LA, my father taught me life was good listening to Chick Hearn announce basketball games. This guy Magic was pretty good too.
WGN, during the summer. Wake up, eat some cereal, Harry Caray, Wrigley Field, ivy, brick walls, day games, nothin better.
Canes were middle fingers to the world. 15 yard penalty? F you, I'll get 20 on the next play. You score 10? We'll score 60. Even the damn kickers were fast. Swagger before swagger.

And I'm a lifer. Chose my teams as a boy. Will die with them an old man. (Any day now, yes you funny ckers.)

Canes, Phins, Heat: Born and raised in Miami, went to University of Miami.

The U is also private, there are about 10,000 undergrads which isn't tiny but also doesn't compare to state schools. The females are BAD though, picture the finest girls from NY, PA, CT, and NJ all enrolling so they can wear swimsuits year-round.

Born and raised in the 773, but I don't know where my love for the Heels came from. I really don't know

Chicago sports are damn near a lifestyle. Growing up my pops, uncles and cousins were all bears bulls and sox fans. It didn't hurt that we owned the 90s in NBA. Then my love evolved to show all Chi teams love. I'm one of the only southsiders that will tell you I wanna see Cubs and Sox thrive. I just wanna see my city win.

I support all Baltimore teams ...and when I was a kid I liked the penny n shaq combo and the magic jerseys

I'm pretty sure DreClark just jumped on whatever team bandwagon that was hot in the 90's , but he's still my dude.

(Any day now, yes you funny ckers.)

dammit, CP. leave the jokes to us, man!

I was indoctrinated into becoming a Steelers fan... When my father & mother split up, he went to live in Pittsburgh & started a Japanese steak house with his brother in law (my uncle). They were both huge sports fans & got season tickets to the Steelers & Pirates. It was a greta time in Pittsburgh because the Pirates were doing well too (We Are Family). My first game was the 1980 AFC championship Steelers vs The Oilers at Three Rivers. Got swept up in the magic & loved the team ever since.

I became a Barca fan because for much of the early to mid 90s, I spent a lot of time working as an assistant for my other Uncle who was sort of a diplomat for the US. He was a special advisor to the senate on foreign business affairs specifically emerging markets as Communism was falling quickly.

There was nothing on TV but soccer, cricket, foreign tv & games shoes, old American rerun shows with the native language over dubbed. I took to watching Cruyff's Barca team play & was a fan off & on since then.

Now Futbol & Barcelona is the only sport I watch/follow...

Sixers, Eagles & Phillies

Grew up in Philly. Terrible time to be a Philadelphia sports fan but its squad. Also like the Falcons cause I used to use them in NFL Blitz lol

I was a bulls fan coming up as my older brother was a huge Jordan fan... even though I continued to play ball when he retired I was devastated and stopped watching until 2001 (Iverson)

In 2002 I got NBA league pass and just watched non stop... Just was a fan again.

Then in 2004...

Top three, I started rooting for since I was able to watch sports (Bay Area kid).  Was never really a college sports fan period.  But when I was 8 years old, I got the opportunity to shoot hoops with my pops at Pauley Pavilion, so have been a fan ever since.
