Well, it's safe to say that I'll never get an American made car ever again! (Minus the Corvette or a

i think people need to understand how does the value of an asset and its utility work together.

None of that means nothing when you got 2 topless bimbos in the back seat of the Lex, papa

(Not speaking from experience, btw. But I've seent it)

But if you want to own a car. Go Honda/Toyota/Nissan. I own my 08 Altima and it never lets me down.
One day, that BMW/Benz/Lex/Range will be leased tho

Maybe the issue is Chevy? I've owned a Focus for 10 years. I'm coming up on 160k miles with very few minor issues.

Eeh most modern non lixury cars are all equal in terms of reliability

Stay away from range rovers

You gotta do routine maintenance too. My 4 runner has cost me 600 in two months. Ain't mad just saying it cost money to maintain all cars. American or not.

I said that statement so that both sides of the lease/buy convo understand that ones utility of a vehicle may have people look at their value if the asset different.

A dude up in NY that drives once a week might do better with a lease

A cat in Houston that drives 25k a year night do better buying

It really just depends on the person's utility of the vehicle

Depends on maintenance. That's why DIY projects come in handy!

But I do agree, overall Japanese cars >>>>

Turbo Grand National all day

They manufacture so that the parts are difficult to break and their management style is customer first, not the bullish and take what I give you style the Americans use.

Read about in management class learning about the turn around of the Japanese car industry
maybe 2 decades ago

Bit it's 2015.

You think American manufacturers were just idly sitting by and watching their market share shrink?
Waiting idly by? No.

But they still haven't kept pace all these years later.

I'm going white t-type with the recaro buckets and digital dash :pimp: same as a grand national but rarer. :pimp:

First OP do not ever take the mechanic at face value on an "oil leak". They have told me i need my engine resealed since i had 130k miles on my car. I have 166k now. When you notice oil under your car then you have an issue if its a small leak and its burning up and you can't see it...prob not big enough to cause a problem yet.

I am team toyota. Bought my 09 corolla with 19k miles on it in 2010. I have 166k on it now and the biggest maintenance issue has been a water pump. Everything else has been normal maintenance. But i also hate cars as an asset. So i will forever buy the most reliable cars i can and run them into the ground until i literally can't drive them any more. I plan on getting 250-300k miles out of my corolla. At which point....i will buy another corolla....or civic.

on the car that i sometimes drive, the flex pipe/exhaust had rusted causing a noise that could be heard several blocks away...

i went for an estimate at one spot and the came up with ballpark figure of $1000...was like yikes didnt wanna spend that much considering my car is a hooptie...

asked a friend who knows car professionals and he referred to a place that did the work for $200...

Man some of you dudes are putting insane mileage on your vehicles :x

But I am with not buying american unless it's a truck or maybe a Denali. other than that I have no interest in them, heard nothing but experiences.
