I am a Hip Hop Musicians representing Central California a newbie to the game trying to get my footing straight. I know what to do as far as getting exposure youtube vids, passing out cd's, try to get on come up shows like rosenbergs. The problem tho is no one has ever made it from my region. So my best bet is to likely move to where the music hub is. Which is LA, Atlanta, New York, or Miami. My thing is NT which city would be the best option for an artist to grow and get more exposure. I need a lot of practice so I'm looking to learn from up and coming artist. See producer make records in studio session. Find a mentor in one of these cities that can guide me through the industry. Any info would be appreciated thanks fellow NTer's.

LA since it's not that far. Doesn't make sense to move across the country so early on.

Don't move. If nobody's made it from your area, it'll be that much easier to stand out. Stay central and travel as needed.

Be ready to invest into your career as much as possible. Paying for the best possible studio time, beats, vids, & artwork you can within your means.

Stay consistent w/ good material.

Start w/ those 3 & you'll be off to a good start breh. 8)

Fly young man fly :pimp:

you have to make in atlanta before you make it anywhere else bo..

atl is the only music hub that matters.

The F. Top underated artist is from your region. Also PA medallions.

One way to grow is to post music. How can you make a thread about growing as an artist without no music to gain maybe new audience.

What's your background OP?
Are you from the streets? Do you hustle? What's your music based on?

I would say stay out of NY. Not being rude, but NY don't show no love to new artists that are out of town. Hell they rarely even show love to new artists that are from NY.

Get a Buzz going for yourself in Miami and Atlanta. Those are the big club scene cities. Once your big in the clubs, DJs gonna start bumping your ****. Once they start bumping your ****, your music will travel state to state. Then that's how your buzz starts.

Good luck and stay safe. Stay out of the streets.

Are you prepared to be broke for several years? Serious question. You gotta understand how much you value your dream before you pursue it because it will be uglier than you ever anticipated. Not saying this to discourage you but it's just best to make informed decisions. And stay put. You need all the resources possible. The Internet is the only city you need to get poppon anyhow. A hit manages to find it's way these days.

Why move to over saturated areas like the ones you mentioned?

Passing out CDs? You're really behind the curve if you believe that's something you NEED to do.

Being regional is kind of irrelevant with this little things called the Internet.

Your social media presence is important, "fans" need a way to "relate to you". Videos via snap chat, Instagram etc. things that give them a little more than just the music goes a long way. Post your music on your soundcloud... Promote it, but don't be obnoxious with the promotion.

If you don't have a talented producer willing to build with you, PAY for beats and production.

Link with music blogs to help get your music heard... Sometimes you will have to pay.

Yes. The internet changed everything.

You're from the Fresno area I assume? Dominate the local area while building up a fan base digitally. Like mentioned you need good beats. Start networking with others in the areas as well.

I'm from Monterey Bay California, I know I didn't post music in here yet cause it's not to my liking(shouldn't be an excuse). I feel that everybody in this form has given me good tips and I appreciate it. @flyny I base my music on streets, conscious music, and motivational music. I would say I'm a nas type rapper like to paint vivid stories(plus favorite 90's rapper). Thanks once again NT for contributing to this form.

Just make an anthem for your town, nationality or something. Make it catchy as **** and wit a lil dance wit it. Your ppl will
have an afinity wit it and that will be their joint. Once you have that whole segment, crossing over is the next plateau. Labels will then mess wit you since they see you have a solid base and a hit amongst a certain demo they can capitalize off off. your welcome./Thread
