So my junk 2000 Ford Taurus is finally going to the grave (had a lot of memories in dat car though, b.)

and im getting my sister's silver 2004 accord coup while she buys a new car this saturday.

I plan on getting 25% tint on the rear and sides but not sure what I should do for the front windshield...?

Also, is 25% enough so people cant see me? Lastly, do people take off their tints before car inspections?

I live in Maryland so the legal limit is at 35.

Usually people don't tint the front and if they do they go really light.

What color is the interior? If you have black leather then 35% will dark enough anyways.

The interior is black.. suede?

Whatever that material is. Not leather, though.

Yea I been reading how dangerous it is to tint the front windshield so I think imma hold off on that.

Yeah don't do the windshield. Maybe a real light tint but I've never bothered. 20-35% is good money. I need to tint my windows too.

Don't do it u will b pulled over constantly..regardless of the percentage

Minneapolis. Yeah if they haters are known for having problems with tints in your area I wouldn't even bother. Not worth having the police harassing you.

I had a black scion in md with 15% all around and a 6 inch strip on the windshield. I never had problems but I lived in pg. now I live in va and I have a black jeep with just factory. I'm moving to md then I'm getting 5% because va is a bunch of babies about tint especially when you gotta get inspections. In md my bf is the law so I don't care if I get pulled over lol

But what happens when you get your car inspected? Do you take the tints off before getting inspected?

I have a maxima and it would look dope with tint but yeah not even gonna bother

Since you have a black interior it'll look darker.

Don't do the windshield.

25% won't be too bad during the day, but at night it might be pretty dark.

Where in md? Or va? I moved to Hawaii after md and I was just always able to find a hook up for someone to over look the tint. In va its different they be always on it for tint. That's why I'm just going to wait until I move with my new car. In MD I only remember doing one inspection when I moved there. If I did have to do yearly I would just ask the guy I was with to go take it, he could usually sway them to hook me up.

Bro, you can't take it off. Unless you wanna buy new tint everytime you have an inspection. Windshield tint is sure to get you pulled over.

OP you might as well go all the way and get 5% tint if you going to get illegal.

I need that hookup in DC for the expection sticker :nerd:

Don't listen to him, unless he lives in Maryland too.

I've never been pulled over for my tints and previous car was all blacked out. My current car is also an all blacked out Tesla and I don't eem have the front plates. I've never been pulled over for my tints and they are 25 or maybe 20%, I forget. The only time I have ever been pulled over was for expired tags (I just forgot to put them on) and no license plate once. I just told the officer I never received them and gave that ol' Ye shrug and left......with a ticket for $200.

I'm from Cleveland, & I had 20% all around on my WRX, and it was pretty dark. Couldn't see anything from the outside of the car looking in, esp at night time. And then I eventually got pulled over and got a $282 ticket lolz. I now have 35% in the front, 20% in the back. Cleveland only allows 50% in the front. I'm just lucking out right now

Texas we have 20 or 25 in the front .. dark as you want in the back..  That being said, I went 18 all around and never got caught.

Frank whats your overall experience with the Tesla?  Is it something you'd recommend?

How about inside looking out? Was it good enough to drive at night?

25% for rear 3 windows should be pretty good for what you want. It should still be good enough for driving at night. I have 5% on rear 3 and I still see fine.

Are tints only for looks or do they stop the sun better? I'll be driving around 3+ hours a day next year so want a way to protect myself from that California sun.
Why Tint Your Car? The Top 6 Reasons
Car tint is usually installed for one or two main reasons depending on the personal preferences and needs of the owner. However, there are many additional benefits to tint that not many car owners have considered and which make tint an all-round amazing idea no matter which way you look at it. Here are the top 6 reasons to get your car tinted:

1.      Better Driving

Driving with the sun directly in your face isn’t just an annoyance – it can be deadly. Car window tint shields your eyes and prevents glare from all sources of extreme light so you’ll never be caught driving badly due to no fault of your own.

2.      Awesome Privacy

Let’s face it, in some of the more unsavory parts of town it’s always a good idea to keep a low profile. Cart tint guards your personal privacy no matter where are you. And not only that, but it also protects the things inside your car when you’re not around. No more stashing your valuables out of sight every time you park!

3.      Upholstery Protection

The heat and UV rays from direct sunlight can turn your upholstery into a mess in a few short years, but did you know this is highly preventable? Car tint keeps your car interior from getting hot enough to warp, fade, or crack, and blocks up to 90% of harmful UV rays from entering.

4.      Shatter Proofing

Tint helps to keep your car’s window from shattering upon impact with an object or in the event of an accident. This can go a long way to protecting the health and lives of your passengers if anything unexpected happens on the road.

5.      Keeping Cool

With the right window tint, you can reduce the heat inside your car in the scorching summer months by up to 60%. Keep the heat out and never worry about pitching up at work drenched in sweat ever again.

6.      Staying Healthy

Direct sunlight and the associated UV rays doesn’t just damage your skin and accelerate ageing, it can also cause skin cancer over a prolonged period of exposure. Reduce harmful UV rays by up to 99%  by installing quality car tint.

for the op .. check with your state & see what the legal limit is, here in missouri [stl] it's 35% for the driver & passenger sides, & any percentage on the back windows & rear window, no tint on the windshield, unless you have a tint permit. when i first got my car, i went legal & got 35% on the front windows & 5% on the back 3, i didn't like how nonuniformed it looked, so about a year later i just went with 5% all around & nothing on the front. i've been stopped many times & got a tint ticket only once, out here it's just what they call a "fix it ticket" you're supposed to go have it fixed & then pay the fine, but the cost for removal & putting on legal tint is more than the ticket, so i just paid the fine, it's not like they're gonna check your car. usually [out here] the cop is just being a jerk if he gives you a window tint ticket, even highway patrol who the law is set by don't trip .. & yes, i know at least out here you can still pass inspection every year you're up for one with illegal tints.

Yeah #6 for me. My old *** car has no factory uv protection. I have gotten a sunburn driving in the spring. Now I'm just tan.
