Gotta start selling drugs to afford going to church

Crazy  I stopped attending some churches because of this. The church I do attend pumps that money back into the community and to the church. They have events for the kids, teens, married folks, those struggling with addiction, elderly, etc. They've been buying up the abandoned houses around the church and using them for offices for the social services orgs they have.

One church I went to was big and nice, pastor had the wine colored caddy, but the neighborhood around it was in shambles. Dude preached about money 3 Sundays in a row, couldn't get down w/ that. Only positive I seen was that they had an ASL interpreter.

Man what? They'd have to pay me to go to church, not the other way around.

Part of the reason why I respect catholic priests more. Those dudes live off of whatever the church decides to give them. And most of the time it's one car and one apartment.
what they give up in money and possessions, they gain in the backing/resources of the Vatican, one of the most powerful and wealthy entities of all time...

they are even often given legal immunity, as demonstrated by the lower number of convictions in the on-going sex abuse sagas...they are often dealt with by the Vatican's internal "entities and procedures," meaning who knows what...

Meaning they get moved to a new city.

I hate that we hear certain stories and decide to paint a picture of all pastors and churches in a negative light. Of course a lot of the stories we hear are ridiculous but I still feel like the foolishness is a minority.

I dont necessary agree with the formality of the letter but I would need more context to understand this church and their practices.

I get that a lot of NT is already skeptical of religion, church and pastors etc... but as a Christian and being objective, im hesitant to jump on this and smh in disgust. On the surface, this could easily rub most of us the wrong way... but I would like more details.

For one... removing her from the church roll, isnt banning her from the church, is it? Two, $50 a month and your an adult that "supposed to pay tithes"...is that really a lot of money?

not making excuses for this church, but i just want more context.

When it is all said and done, majority of these "pastors" are just motivational speakers. 10% of their teaching is actually scripture [if that], the remaining 90% is mumbo jumbo motivational quotes and life coaching. Which is cool, I have no problem with people getting the help they need to be better. Just call it what is though :smh:

The letter seems pretty straight forward, what more details or context could there really be?

It is what is.

OP, here's what you do, papa

Start up ya own church. Cut out the middle man. Sell the word of God to the public for half the price. The church you rocking with now is selling the watered down word and they charging double the price. Ask God for the word directly. That's free. It's free to talk to God, baby pa. Get the word from him, bring that back to ya church, cut it up and push it to the public for free, but just ask for donations. You gonna be making profit regardless and you gonna be pushing that pure word straight from the source. Everything I'm saying is facts, B

Got me in the parking lot at work crying.

FlyNY been on a month long hot streak. Everything he types is comical AF.

....and its all tax exempt. What a hussle.

Low key I'm about to jump on this.

I'm sure the congregational yambs ain't bad either. Husbands sending their girl off to pastor house to get "blessed".

Get it how you live. Yall respect drug dealers, pimps and murderers, so y'all better respect this hustle.

I know a few people that give their last to the church while struggling for gas and food. I don't get it but to each their own.

Went to one church and they had about 4 offerings in one session all with different names but one was for the pastor "Pastor got to be blessed, why can't the pastor have nice clothes and cars" Meanwhile had a offering to rebuild a wall. Another offering had a minimum, "we need 6 people to give 100 dollars today, come on stage". This church was in one of the poorest neighborhoods in Dallas.

Another church I tried, The pastor was similar to the ones you hear about. He whipping a long body Caddy car and expensive clothes while pressuring his elderly church members to give part of their retirement to him. Also tried to cheat on his wife with my girls mom a few times (my girls mom wasn't with it). He had a history of cheating on her with members in the past, even banned one family cause the mother come out about it. His wife was choir director and constantly fell asleep in the stand on stage while her husband preached.

I tried organized religion and didn't work for me at all. Since it part of my upbringing, its hard to not have some faith but any worshiping I do won't be in a church.

SIDENOTE: There do be some baddies in church b.

When you are a church member you get benefits, church members can get there rent paid, they can get discounts, one on one counseling with pastor, marriage counselling etc
The book of acts explains that the church is like a community, we all put in and then some of us are indeed there will always be an abundant
My old church made choir members pays 25 dollars a month for expenses and to pay the choir director.

So yes one would need to understand the context

You should not go to a church and benefit from that church and not pay to keep that church up, light bill, mortgage etc
But I dont like that letter one bit, I have never placed my name on an envelope and I have to no intentions to.
So to the church it may look like I have never paid a dime

They could have simply spoken with her and asked her
Some members stop paying when they feel something in the church is going wrong
