Bought a Galaxy S6 off craigslist.

Dude shows up and it's still new in the box. I have him open it because I said I can't buy it if I don't know whether or not my sim card works. So he opens it, and charges it for a minute. Puts my sim card in and I make a call. Works fine.

I ask for his drivers license and he says he doesn't have it and gives me a school id, then said it was his uncles car.

I pay him 300 and go home. By the time I get home, the phone is dead and won't charge. I start to look closely and realize it might be fake.

Sooo I have 2 names(might be fake) a phone number thatI looked up (said it might belong to FINESSE DESIGNZ :smh:) and a CA license plate. (I'm in Vegas)

Anything I can do?

K Kaleo15 is metro worth the call?

Don't those fake s6's have a poor version of TW/Android that could be caught by a semi trained eye?

try to look up the name and school
google it.
might get a Facebook page
google his number if you used a phone number to meet up
maybe you can find his actual info and then you can send the goons

FINESSE DESIGNZ though.

God damn.

I know... as soon as I saw that I knew I got got.

What were the signz that it was fake?
The back is plastic and not glass.

See, like I was watching that video that got posted and this fake (the one I have) is definitely more in line with real one. The only signs I have are the plastic back, the absent lense on the flash, and the kind of buggy interface. Everything else matched up pretty well.

Not really worth the call in my opinion... they'll just tell you to come to a station and file a Police Report.

:wow:

Had no idea they made fake androids.

Yeah and there are fake iPhone 6's too.

That price was way to good to be true though for a S6 that just game out not to long ago.

$300 is about what the S5 is going for.

I started seeing people posting about this on craigslist and I just stopped trying to buy because I didn't want to get got.

Good luck though OP.

That's crazy I just watched that video and I would have got "Finnesed" too.

If I didn't look at that video I would have probably bought an S6 that was fake :smh:

Just saw someone posted this on craigslist...

If you plan on buying a cellphone via craigslist, besides taking personal safety precautions, you should arm yourself with information on how to identify and verify the authenticity of the phone you plan to purchase.
I'm a phone enthusiast and have bought a lot of smartphones on craigslist. In the past year, on six occasions, I've had the pleasure of someone attempting to sell me a fake phone. They were all Samsung phones and were very well made. Without at least moderate inspection, you couldn't tell the difference.
There are clones of lots of phones(iPhones, htc, etc..), but, like I said, my experiences consisted of only Samsung phones, so I'll focus there. These days, most flagship phones are implementing a fingerprint sensor, and Google's next update, android M, will incorporate touch ID at system level which will encourage more phone manufacturers to build more devices with a sensor. This is great because I've found this the easiest way to identify a fake. When inspecting the phone, create a fingerprint profile of one of your fingers. Then, when trying to access the phone, use other fingers other then the registered one. If you can unlock the screen, your holding a fake phone. Other ways include the differences in feel and performance. A fake s6 will be house in all plastic as opposed to the glass construction on the real one. And upon a brief visual analysis, you will notice a mediocre at best performance on the fake and it might even seem a little pixelated. Authentic phones are snappy, no lag, and crystal clear, especially with a 2k screen resolution.
Obviously this is only a fraction of knock-off device models you might encounter and ways to identify them. I didn't write this with the intention to create a definitive guide to craigslist transactions, but did intend to create a general awareness of this and that it might be more prevalent then you think. With this in mind, I would encourage you to arm yourself by visiting the web for more detailed information on the model phone your planning to purchase and how to better identify a fake.
If anyone would like to add caveats ,craigslist experiences, good or bad, or just valuable information, you can email me and I will add them to this post. Remember, knowledge is power!

Finesse Designz wow

You most definitely got the L, I used to have the direct link to the dude selling these. You should have taken a picture with it first and that would have been a dead giveaway, the quality would have been beyond terrible.
