Alejandro Inarritu's THE REVENANT (starring Leo Dicaprio, Hardy)

Good movie, a little overrated tho. I think the cinematography not the acting is what makes it a very good movie.

That bear mauling is cinematic genius. Just when you thought the bear was done it just kept clawing at Leo. :x

Leo pulling a Luke Skywalker and sleeping in horse guts for the night :x

How did Leo not get frost bitten, dude is traversing cold rivers, sleeping in snow and somehow was warm enough not to have his fingers and nose fall off

My man Tom Hardy is the same character in every movie, he has that exact same cadence to his voice but it works for him. I guess you can take the boy out of east London, but can't take the London out the boy.

7.5/10 good flick. And no Leo doesn't deserve an oscar for this. Please don't hurt me.

Saw it yesterday. The cinematography in this movie is absolutely amazing.
The movie should definitely win an oscar for those visuals.
Dicaprio delivered another amazing performance, I hope this gets him the oscar he deserves at long last.

The film was really well done, but I feel it was 30 minutes too long, I am not sure there was necessarily an unnecessary scene, but there are several scenes that are too long.

Performances were all solid. Rank this film in my top 3 for the year for sure.

1. Sicario

2. Ex Machina

3. The Revenant

Just got finished watching. Crazy cinematography. Reminded me of a mashup of True Grit x First Blood x The Grey, just done better

This is why I'm debating seeing it again. This time in a theater.

I've heard nothing but amazing reviews on Sicario

Sicario was good. Was admiring Emily Blunt the whole time. Benicio with a boss performance as usual.

The movie was good, but the fantastical stuff seemed out of place (like when he sees his wife and she's floating or something). I'm sure theres some symbolism to it, but it throws off the flow. Very similar to the end of the Beach when it turns all video-gamey.

 Those weren't fantastical. Those were dreams and hallucinations.

Lot of grief with the dead wife and dead son he failed to protect. It's what kept him going.

Saw it last night. I really thing Leo should win an Oscar for this. Dude was incredible like always. He barely spoke the entire movie but still killed this role. There's not much competition this year so I think he's gonna finally bring one home :pimp:

Anybody else have trouble understanding Hardy? There were scenes where I didn't know wtf he said. Hardy mumble on full effect this movie

I liked the bear's performance better than leo's.

Didn't really notice the inspired by true events part until recently. I read up on the Glass guy and he was a boss. He did track down the two guys who left him. Even tracked down fitzgerald who signed up for the army and went down to Texas I think. Found him and made him give his gun back. Didn't kill him because killing a soldier in the army was a serious crime.

Who was Glass again? The captain? Or was that Leo's character.

Cant remember one name in that movie.

Pretty good movie with a good story, and good actors. Kinda feels like Leo mailed it in for this one, but still better than a lot of other actors.

That bear attack :wow:

Easily one of the best films I ever seen..cinematography was RIDIC

Dicaprio was unbelievable

Innaritu def coming up in the ranks..i already own Babel/Amores Perros/21 grams

I may see this again

I've yet to watch this, but I hear a lot of praise here and other parts.

I haven't finished Knight of Cups either...

edit- out of the 3 mexican directors that made it big, Inarritu is the best one, fallowed by cuaron and power gap to del toro.

Medellin killed the jefe for killing his wife and kids. Damnb

Just came back from seeing this. Now personally I thought this was a good movie. The things I liked most about it was what I always like about a Leo movie...his range. Dude knows how to act. Period. And so does Tom Hardy. They do acting justice in this move. However....the cinematography was definitely above average but not super top notch. The plot was average to me....basically a man seeking revenge.

Would I say go see this in a theatre....Yes...if you have time to kill. Otherwise get that rip.

7.5-8/10

Sadly, I don't think Leo should get an oscar for this....But he definitely should have already.

Lots of emotion in this movie.

Ill have to see who else is getting nominated this year
Ive seen a couple of the other films that I expect to get Oscar nods, and I think Leo stacks up very well this year

Compared to Best Actor winning performances of previous years, Id say that Leo comes up short in The Revenant.
I thought his performances was gritty and excellent and very convincing
But I wouldn't be surprised if voters find it to be too primal, simple and without enough dialogue or character progression

However, Ive seen a couple of the other films that I expect to get Oscar nods, and I think Leo stacks up very well this year

I kinda of look at it like Scorcese's Departed. This wasn't Scorcese's best film, but he went up against a weaker field and finally pulled off the win
