Overrated vacation destinations

Just went for 4 days/3 nights during the 4th of July weekend. There isn't much to do except party and relax on the beach. That's not enough for me right now during a vacation so it's not a place I'd be eager to visit again anytime soon. But I went with friends and it was still a great time. Hard to really hate on drinking sangria and eating paella on topless beaches with clear water and great views. But damn that place gets pricey.

why would you think I'm mad? I just simply know that your opinion is stupid.

The amount of stuff you can do in Cancun and surrounding areas is crazy.

And ....

That's not even counting exploring Mayan ruins like Chitchen Itza, Talum and Xcaret.

I was with Steezy until he down played Architecture/Histotical marbles. That such a joy and there are plenty of stuff to see and do.

For example Los Altos de Chavon in DR, such a beautiful place to visit and its all about the history.

I have to co-sign OP. Venice, Italy is my #1 spot for most overrated vacation spots. I couldn't wait to get the hell out of there. City stinks, way crowded, everyone tryin to fleece you, it was just an S-show. Florence poops all over Venice in every possible way when it comes to major cities in Italy.

straight slander. Barcelona is a fantastic city. You got mountains and beaches and everything in between. The people are lovely, the food is fantastic, and the partying aint half bad either. I'd love to get back there soon.

My first time to Oahu was strictly in Waikiki and I left feeling like it was overrated. It did remind me a bit of home (LA) but with better beaches. I recently did a week in Oahu last year but stayed outside of Honolulu (in Ko Olina) and it was FANTASTIC. Maybe I'm just getting old, but it was so much better being out of the city.
 
I agree florence >>> venice.

Florence got sum crazy clubs 8)
Art and architecture too.

The only thing i dont like about venice are all the damb tourists.
But i really like it there. The atmosphere. ..there was this big square where everybody gathered and partied it was great.

Honestly if i go anywhere thats different ill usually have fun.
Theres never been a destination that i did not enjoy

Even like city to city.

a vacation is what you make of it, i enjoy going everywhere i go as long as its not in the middle of nowhere

just because you find cancun interesting doesnt mean everyone else feels the same way... and that is my point... but you obviously missed that... again its my opinion where there is no right answer hence why its called an opinion... and i went to chitchen itza and while it was cool it didnt do much for me...

NYC can be overrated if all you do is the tourist stuff and you're paying top dollar for a telly. It's my favorite city on the planet though

If you already live on a coast with beaches nearby. Is Australia really that different, that you would fly there to vacay. and that is why i think its overrated

Went to Australia when was like 12. It was mad fun, I need to go back. People are real friendly too.

I think people just anticipate certain places to be this and that and when they find out it isn't they feel like their experience just got cheated.

Mingle with the people there, do what they do, don't go to the cliche tourism spots and find out the pros of each destination you go to and enjoy the experience. I have never had a bad vacation. Maybe my standards are too low but if I'm away from work and my city I'm gonna have a damn good time :pimp:

Word,went when I was younger and its far from overrated :lol:. The great weather all year long and the women are just as beautiful as the scenery there :lol: :smokin.
