Three years ago today, NikeTalk moved to the Huddler platform.

i wonder what the site traffic looks like for sneakertalk on those site trafficking tracking site?? :nerd:

I remember way back when NT was beefing with the sole collector forums

Great website :pimp:. It would be smooth if we could have a notification if someone replied to our post.

I still remember the traitor members that were aligning with sneakertalk due to them offering mod roles only to slide back to teamNT when that other site started falling apart even more.

 Yoo I remember that! Dudes were feening to fill those mod positions, even though I think a majority of them were just trolling.

You're trippin.

They should of become mods, then tear it down from the inside. Not that anyone needed to do that. I see Sneaker Talk is running pretty actively these days.

Whatever happened to that Sanjay clown from ST? The little week long war between both sites after the move was classic . The textbook "NT is dead" extreme overreaction was also classic

What ever happened to that staff member from huddler who was answering all of our questions when we 1st made the move to huddler? I remember some of the members asking him stupid/ personal questions in typical NT fashion, and remained a good sport throughout it all. I hope he's doing alright.

I still remember the switch and not knowing what was going on

Every few hours or so that site kept changing and I was like wtf is happening to NT? It's crazy cuz the new look was now reflecting how trash the yuku experience was. When I finally got to the new NT I was letting everybody still posting on "Sneakertalk" know what the deal was (do NTers still post there? :nerd: ). That they thought they could hold our content and usernames hostage showed how ***** made they were.

Yuku was so bad :smh:

Loving huddler :pimp:

@shawea.  He was absolutely clutch during that time.  @SJHuddler  provided amazing support and she directly interacted with many NT members around launch as well.  Sadly, they have since moved on.  There's been a lot of change behind the scenes, but I'm pleased to say that it's been largely transparent from an end user's perspective.

A little over a year ago, as some already know, Huddler was acquired by Wikia.  It marked the first time in our experience that an ownership change for our forum platform could ever be considered a positive.  (Quality of ownership for the old platform, from a community owner's perspective, just grew progressively worse.)

The core team at Huddler is still intact, so it's been an additive change.  Considering the types of characters we've been forced to deal with in the past, it's a welcome change to say the least.  To have the people behind a top 40 web destination US (top 100 worldwide) backing your platform is the polar opposite of what we'd been stuck with on the old site.  We can finally rest assured that our forum platform won't suffer from neglect.

Our experiences with Huddler and Wikia throw the previous platform into sharp relief (perhaps even comic relief, for those who now distant enough from the misery to laugh about the absurdities of it all), and that can make it challenging to focus on the positives of our current and future situation without, at the same time, referencing the negatives left behind.  I realize that conversation is going to occur in here, but I hope everyone understands that I'd rather focus on the positive, and on the current system.

I'm enjoying life without the old platform far too much to stir that stuff up again.  I'm happy to answer other questions, though.
NT would be dead without the mobile site, it was very welcomed

can we do like a retro Ezboard theme for a week or something?
One of the consequences of upgrading to an actual, professional design is that altering it is no simple task.  The old site was so simple and crude that all we had to do was go into the forum settings and swap out a banner image and/or edit the CSS ourselves.

It's like customizing a skateboard compared to customizing a space shuttle.  I can't just pick up a screwdriver and pop something on anymore.

Remember when all the banned accounts were renewed??? **** was funny

Due to the nature of our move, we couldn't transfer any usage data associated with individual accounts over to the current system.  Yuku's system was incredibly crude, comparatively, and only had an IP history on file, but even that couldn't make the trip with us.

So, if we wanted to establish who's who on the new site to help keep the trolls out...

Funny stuff, indeed.
NT APP Please
Aside from push notifications and transition animations, what would a NikeTalk app have that the mobile site does not?

It's a popular request, but it's very expensive to develop and it's difficult to sell that as a value add to the platform as a business if people can't even articulate why they want it - let alone how it's going to create a stronger ROI than any other possible upgrades under consideration.

If we could just snap our fingers and make it happen, you'd have it already.  With all the platform fragmentation, the constant changes in OS, average device specs, etc., and the challenges this presents from a testing and maintenance standpoint, we'd have to do a lot better to sell it than "it's just a generational thing.  Kids these days just feel that everything needs its own app."

I'm hearing - and relaying - the feedback that people want an app, but I've yet to hear many compelling specifics.

The NT vs st

My account got banned for telling members that st wasn't the real NT

Never having to see that magician maintenance pic appear when trying to browse NT :nthat:

:rolleyes

i just wan things to be the same as those days, Niketalk was a different community, a better community. But who am i kidding itll never be the same again cause the "culture" that once was is no more.

Those were the Niketalk glory days . :pimp:

Can we bring back the monthly SN rejection thread?

Yeah, that was one of my favorite things to do. There were always some good ones.

Applications are totally different now though, we don't get to do that so there's no chance of a new thread.
