Is it safe to say Drake is a cornball? Or are dudes just hating cause he's on top?

It's both. Drake has always been a bit corny, and people hate the fact that he's made it to the top. As far as the ghost writing thing goes, it was fairly obvious. Go back and listen to his early work (Room for Improvement and Comeback Season) and you can easily tell when he's heavily involved in the writing and when he has bars fed to him. When his lyrics started gaining more of a hard feel to it, I immediately called bull. He went from a rather basic subject matter to talking about whipping up work, run up when you see me, and all sorts of out of character content. The funniest part of all this is that so many people hate Drake, but no one has successfully taken him out on wax.

I just can't rock with the culture vulture b. He crazy corny but he's just the most popular right now and has been for a while. It was a car wash by my crib and a whole group of high school white girls were raising money for something. They had his music at full blast, rapping every word. Its a kind of rap that they can relate too that doesn't really go back to the roots of hip hop or what its based on. Those Lil chicks couldn't listen to dudes like Kendrick because they can't relate to that struggle he goes thru. #Privilegerap

I'm not even a fan of Drake, but it seems "cool" to hate Drake. Hip-Hop is such an umbrella term nowadays. To say what is and what isnt Hip-Hop is subjective.

Drakes rich. Nuff said. He came in the game with stacks. He don't answer to no rapper. When you see his Ovo crew, you see a difference from other crews. Professionalism.

Hating on Kanye seems like the "cool" thing to do these days since I know ALOT of ppl that hate Ye. Hating on Drake however is uncommon and blasphemous to ppl in real life. His ratio of fans to critics in real life is like 9 to 1

Ppl love this corny dude :smh:

just because someone doesnt like someone or their body of work doesnt mean their hating. just preference in what is considered hot...

drake has some good songs but no memorable verses... imo

kanye hasnt had a good verse in a long time... he is an over rated beat maker/producer but he is very talented...

This is my thing:

All these rappers are pretending to be way cooler than they actually are.

This is why people are able to go in on Meek like this on social media. Dude has shown himself to not be anywhere near as cool as they thought he was. We're laughing at Meek because of how he's handled the last few months of his life, and if he were cooler none of this would be working out the way it is.

Drake, while pretending to be cooler than he is as all rappers do, still isn't pretending to be AS cool as these rappers are pretending to be. He's still allowing himself to come across as a regular-acting dude who's not simply cooler than everyone else. He's not out here tryna convince you that you should get like him, or that he's untouchable or has no vulnerabilities at all, or that he has no insecurities or flaws whatsoever, or that his confidence would never ever be shaken. Everything he does/says isn't about asserting his dominance, and he's fine with not having grown up in extreme poverty or violence and danger. He's pretty normal and well adjusted, and he doesn't take himself super seriously.

People seem to not want that in their rappers. They need their rappers to be better than them. That's the issue people have with Drake, at least from my perspective. People need their rappers to be what they feel they could never be. People need their rappers to be characters, professional wrestlers who play roles and fulfill fantasies.

People are projecting their own issues onto Drake when it comes to his status as a "cornball," and that to me is hating. People make up these standards that they themselves don't even exist by. People demand rappers have a background that they didn't even have. People demand rappers not react in the ways they themselves would react to things. People demand that these rappers not be real people, but rather archtypes. And Drake comes across as a regular person, which is not OK if you're a) a rapper or b) a black man in general (but that's another conversation).

That's just my 2 cents.

I think Drake is lame but as dude mentioned he's the lesser of the evils. Have you seen these lames out right now?

People are just hatin because their crush loves him. Even if he is a modern day Ja, they both can pull out a milli with ease. [emoji]128513[/emoji] People beef with dude, but know they bow down to him. Even the gangsterist rappers do. Cornball or not he gets my respect.
