Not at all. I am seriously asking you, did the new Karate Kid coming out somehow diminish the legacy/popularity/prestigue of the original Karate Kid? Nah, it didn't. Different movie. 25 year difference. Different generation. Movies have been remade since the beginning of cinema man. If a movie is dear to your heart, it will remain dear to your heart. I don't care if it is remade 50 times.

And your 2nd point is exactly what I was saying. New generation. New target audience. The new Space Jam fans don't / won't give a damn about Michael Jordan's movie from the 90s. Most of them don't even see Jordan as the greatest of all time. They don't give a damn about his old ***.
