Nike has conditioned us to believe that flyknit is a premium material. It's pieces of yarn woven together to be a support for a shoe.

Let's be real.. There's nothing premium about it. It comes down to what looks better. Flyknit looks better than a piece of mesh because it's different.. But both materials need to be reinforced correctly for basketball purposes.

I like both in their own ways. Hopefully I'll have the chance to get some EM IDs this summer.

Until there is proof or study that flyknit is all a gimmick, I will pay the $40 premium. It's like leather in a car, sure you can still sit in the seat without it but if it feels better to you then that's all that matters, you pay the premium. To me $40 isn't a big deal. If I'm spending 160 on a shoe then what's 200? I'm curious to know for those that have said the EM is superior for playing in, in what way? I've seen a pair of XI EMs in hand and also noticed that the ankle collar padding is about half as thick as the Elite version. So, flyknit, heel zoom and more padding around the ankle, what make the EM better other than being $40 cheaper?

anyone got a link to where i can cop these kind of laces or a shop that sells a variety of laces? the cement print ones on laced up laces dont match as well as these do

Hey burp, those are my shoes. I had a pair of heather gray laces from a nikeid trainer shoe i bought. Not sure if nike sells those alone or not. I love my combo!

Watch the Nightwing reviews, he talks about it. Personally, I feel like it comes down to preference. If you like a mesh upper go with the EM, if you like the flyknit and supreme feeling, then the $40 extra shouldn't be that much of a hassle

I may swap the insoles between the CD and BHM, these CDs will probably be used on court while the BHMS are casual wear only.

I'm just realizing how crazy we are for wearing basketball sneakers for casual wear haha

LOL I'm not 'worked up' at all, I actually think it's funny. This has been an issue to people since the 9s. I have multiple 9s, 10s and 11s in EM and Flyknit. I have played in my Elites everytime for a reason. I won't be buying any EM 11s because the Flyknit on this model (which is the best so far) along with the zoom heel is well worth the $40 difference. But hey, to each their own right?
real talk right here I play college ball and em versions on a player like me are an injury waiting to happen I wear ankle braces and rolled my ankles numerous times in the 9 ems the Xi knit is the truth I feel 100% secure, also idk about most regular players but my translucent outsole grips even in semi dusty court conditions but I am a 190 lb guard

Agreed, I also feel more secure in the flyknit verions. I'm also a 6'1", 190 lb guard that can 360 dunk. I need my shoes to hold up for what I put them through. The EMs are a great hoop shoe, don't get me wrong but FOR ME, the Elite has just been better.

Do you use full zoom insert with your elites?

I have yet to roll an ankle in a pair of Kobes from the 6s to the 11s. I bought a pair of Kyrie 1s to try out (price) and rolled BOTH ankles after 4-5 wears. Returned them and bought more kobes haha. I won't play in anything other than kobes again. I assume the Kyries and the way I play just didn't go together.

I think we can all agree that the Kobe is a great hoop shoe, whether it's EM or Elite!

Most people who buy Kobes (and sneakers in general) are wearing them casually.  That said, how many college and pro players wear EMs and opposed to the Elites?  What about the man himself.  How many EMs has Kobe worn on court?  He kinda had an achilles issue...I think he took his footwear at least semi-serious.

You guys are toooo technical, its basketball. Rolled ankles, cuts, elbows are all par for the course. It has zero to do with the shoe you have on, todays athlete plays in a far superior shoe than 10 yrs ago but the same injuries have always occurred.
