Another very light week. No Piper, Bauer & Pollock are still on break, no Taz show for the second week in a row (outside of a short reaction show). Cornette just dropped something from the Legends Fanfest, but it’s nearly two hours and will be included in next week’s Podmass.

MLW Radio #189 (7/26/15): MSL is MIA this week, so Konnan and Court are joined by Disco Inferno. A good chunk of the episode is *****ing about current wrestling, essentially how no one can throw a punch and wrestlers aren’t fighters anymore. Konnan also comes off terribly doing some victim blaming while discussing domestic violence and MMA. Things certainly pick up when they casually toss of stories of other wrestlers, like Disco busting on Raven for reading comic books and Konnan staying in Teddy Hart’s cat-overrun mansion. Unfortunately, the show was taped before the whole Hogan scandal broke, which is unfortunate, but I was looking forward to Konnan’s insight into the issue. THUMBS IN THE MIDDLE
Steve Austin Show #241 (7/28/15): No guest this week, not even any listener questions. Instead, Steve tells a long story about being stressed and having an epiphany about learning to relax when he went out to eat at a French restaurant. It’s a weird story of eating liver, coping with no cell reception, and watching the door while you eat. I have no idea what to make of this show. It’s not a good story at all, but it’s so strange and Steve seems it’s such a revelation I can’t totally bag on the show. Maybe worth a listen if you’ve got the time. THUMBS IN THE MIDDLE
WOOOOO [emoji]8482[/emoji]Nation #13 (7/28/15) Ric and Conrad chat with former WCW commentator Mark Madden. Lots of WCW discussion, including the dark days near the end, Flair putting the Figure Four on a football player, Russo and Ferrera’s booking, the nWo Horseman parody sketch, Madden writing Flair’s book, TNA’s woes, and talk about Ricky Steamboat, Kerry Von Erich, Kurt Angle, and more. Madden is always nothing if not honest, and as the show description says “Another Home Run, very entertaining conversation!” THUMBS UP
The Ross Report #76 (7/28/15): Patrick Clark, who was surprisingly eliminated on Tough Enough last week, talks to JR about his wrestling fandom, applying for the show, working with Hulk Hogan, getting the boot, and his future plans in wrestling. I don’t watch Tough Enough, but I’ve certainly heard of Patrick, but this just didn’t hold my attention. I’m sure Patrick is a great guy, but he just doesn’t come across as all that interesting. If you follow the show you may get more out of it, but for me I was just waiting for it to end. <Clark’s interview starts at 17:27>THUMBS DOWN
Talk is Jericho #164 (7/29/15): Dennis Haskins, Mr. Belding from Saved by the Bell, is the guest this week. Lots of talk about Saved by the Bell and it’s everlasting appeal, being typecast, his relationship with the cast, and reuniting on the Tonight Show. There’s also talk of his days as a road manager for Greg Allman, working with Seth McFarlane, and his love of professional wrestling. Haskins is a jovial fellow who has no problem discussing his most famous role, and really seems happy to be hanging out with Jericho. <Haskins’ interview starts at 12:43>THUMBS UP
Art of Wrestling #261 (7/30/15): It’s the fifth anniversary of Art of Wrestling, so Colt opens with a long monologue about the show and what it’s meant. He then plays a snippet from an old Kevin Steen/Owens interview from 2012 that’s currently in the premium section of Colt’s site. The interview is fascinating, as Owens is at a time where he’s thinking about quitting wrestling because of the toll it takes on his family, and the issues keeping him from getting to the next level. You may have heard the interview before, but it’s worth revisiting in the context of Owens’ success in the WWE. A worthy victory lap. THUMBS UP
Steve Austin – Unleashed #242 (7/30/15): OH HELL YEAH Ted Fowler 361 is back, this time trekking up to Los Angeles to hang out with Steve. They talk about Teddy’s trip to LA, parking, city life, beer, motorcycles, handyman work, and other nonsense. I feel like they’ve done this show about 600 times, only this time they’re in California. THUMBS DOWN
Talk is Jericho #165 (7/31/15): “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry is the guest this week. They talk about Henry rooming with the Rock back in the day, powerlifting, backstage politics, how he got into the WWF, working out with Vince, the prank that almost lead to him quitting and the push it lead to, the retirement angle, working with Mae Young, almost shoot attacking the Radicalz, nearly getting into it with Jericho, and more. Henry comes across as extremely honest and likable and this is a great show. <Henry’s’s interview starts at 16:49> THUMBS UP

Talk n’ Shop #56 (7/25/15): Part 4 with Mikey Nichols, sort of, as he’s passed out for the entire episode. Tama Tonga is the one who shines in this episode, discussing what it was like growing up as the son of Haku and using shoot moves in fights he got in at school. He also discusses finding out Bad Luck Fale was his actual cousin, Rocky chips in on his love for ECW, and everyone has great things to say about the Barbarian. The rare Talk n’ Shop where you actually learn something by the end. THUMBS UP
