Anyone live a minimalist lifestyle?

No car, no tv, no internet, no phone?

go out there and be one with the earth, find your zen, become enlightened, i think thats awesome and i respect that.

me personally, i like seeing pluto, i like driving cross country, i like the internet, i like technology, i like being able to pull out a phone and ask it how to cook something,
i used to not be able to do some of those things, used to not have a tv, car, phone,
wasn't so happy.

just giving my opinion to op.
 
Do you know you can live a minimal lifestyle and still enjoy all of those things? I don't see where he said he wanted to live like a buddhist, you made that assumption.

My approach is more of a frugal lifestyle spend money on what I love and keep expenses low on everything else.

I save/invest a big portion of my income and still do everything you just stated. Far from a budhist

Seems like you came on here expecting people to applaud you on your lifestyle change. Going from a Note 4 to Blackberry is hardly minimal at all.
Like someone had said if you're concerned with web browsing then get a burner and just buy minutes in case of an emergency.
You're acting like 3G on a Blackberry is gonna change your life, it's just as capable as most phones today regarding web browsing, just slower.

tl;dr It's just not as big a deal as it seems to you. Hence the jokes in here.

I'm pretty sure I do, and it's just because that's how I am and its what I like. I don't blow money on clothes or shoes, haven't been clothes shopping in a while but still have nice outfits for dates/restuarants. I invest most of my income and I have a blackberry. Also I like to walk mostly everywhere I go and I live in the city luckily so I can do so. I don't have a car. I have no debt.

but my mindset is why would u want to deprive yourself of amenities that humans have worked hard to create that make your life better/easier.
unless you can't afford them or some other circumstance.
but thats just my opinion.


again, no problem with what op is doing, i hope he does it and comes back with experiences. whatever makes you happy.

Nobody talking about living off the land famb. Don't put words in my mouth. I was talking about just enjoying life more. Being outside more, engaging with people, optimal exercise, less consumption of worthless items for status, healthy eating and only buying what I need.

This is an Internet shoe site though so wrong place.

Yes I work brother. I need a phone to be contacted and be able to read emails. I just want a downgraded phone to keep me off the Interne not whipe me off the map.

Minimalist can be interpreted and executed many different ways.

People live horrible lives just so I can live my life. I just want to reduce the negative impact I have on the world in any way I can.

I do remember those bb days. Switched to Apple when the 4s came out. Touchscreen definetley increased my phone time maybe 8000% smh
