Dentist hunts and kills Cecil the lion

I don't think they're endangered per say, but African lions are down to around 32,000, which is at least 50% less than a few decades ago (based on an article I read about this yesterday). Hunting trophy game should be outlawed.

He's stateside so he's not going to face any consequences other than a sullied name. U.S. won't levy any penalty and they aint gon send him back to face punishment.

Cecil had a previous record with misdemeanor assault, he was no saint. Autopsy reports that he had marijuana in his system as well. 
 
The only problem I have is that it was purely for sport. I can see if he planned to eat it. Hunting 101 = Kill what you plan to eat.

but yet here in America who are the majority of people who hunt deer, elk, various types of birds etc. for "fun"? 

We have our own issue with hunting and killing of animals for no personal gain, but anytime Americans complain about hunting they always love to point to Africa. Take a look in the mirror.

Yep. I'm still not hundred percent sold on deer meat tho, that jont was so tough and gamey it made my jaw hurt.

Rhino horns and elephant tusk demand is being driven by the Chinese not African witch doctors. Same with shark fins as well. They are having a damaging effect on a number of ecosystems because of their perverse tastes.
