I liked the Crabtree signing. He's an asset and with him gettin along with Carr so well, Schoolin coop, he got no play in free agency,I say give the man an extension right now and let him call it home for awhile...

He would leave if someone overpays, which could happen with an immediate contender needing a WR. Otherwise if he feels the team is promising I expect him to stay.

As much as it pains me to say.

Crabtree was very disappointed during free agency so I don't think a lot of teams come calling...

I think Clive is about to start becoming a big part of the offense.

Clive Walford hopes to see touchdowns multiply after getting his first score
Posted on October 25, 2015 by Jimmy Durkin
Raiders tight end Clive Walford, the team’s third-round pick, is seeing his opportunities increase lately and found the end zone for the first time Sunday with a 23-yard catch from Derek Carr.

Walford ran a wheel route from his tight end spot and a perfectly thrown pass helped him beat Chargers safety Jimmy Wilson for the touchdown.

“When he snapped the ball and I saw the way the defender played it, I felt like he was going to come to me, but I wasn’t sure so I just ran my route,” Walford said. “I looked back and saw the ball and I knew I just had to make a play on it.”

Walford is feeling more comfortable in the offense after missing most of training camp due to injuries and was thrilled to break through for his first score.

“Words can’t really explain it,” Walford said. “I was just so excited and so thrilled. I’m just happy I got it out of the way and hopefully I can multiply.”

He also made a 19-yard catch the play before Michael Crabtree scored from 25 yards out. Carr squeezed it into a tight window over the coverage of linebacker Donald Butler for the big pickup.

“I just trust him,” Carr said of the pass. “Should I have maybe thrown it to him there? Probably not. But I trusted him to make a play and he did.”

Was listening to the radio and it was brought up that we've never beaten Fitzpatrick, wit the 3 teams he's been on. We gotta smack him in the mouth for sure!!

Denver has a good defense and we lost that because of a pick 6 but really the 2 early missed field goals came back to haunt us.

I don't know the outcome but I expect us to be in it with a chance to win. The Cinci lost was the only game that we looked outclassed.

The Cincy loss I'll take for Hue. Dumping him and hiring Dennis Allen was a mistake.

Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie, 11-37 in first three seasons, feels as if he’s in a fair fight
Posted on October 27, 2015 by Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Filed for print . . .

ALAMEDA _ Finally, Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie feels as if he’s in a fair fight.

His team is 3-3, and while that’s a long way from the top of the NFL food chain, it’s a significant upgrade from the 11-37 record during his first three seasons in charge of the Raiders’ football operation.

“You knew you had to take the punches,” McKenzie told beat writers Tuesday in his first public comments since training camp. “That’s just the way it goes, especially when you’re not winning. The key was really looking at the big picture, not to get so down on myself and the team and knowing what was ahead.

“I’m used to being in the playoffs. I haven’t been since I’ve been here. That’s the goal. Let’s get to the playoffs and it’s a new season and then let’s try to get to the Super Bowl . . . we can go out every Sunday and it seems like we can compete to win games. It’s gratifying.”

During a 35-minute interview, McKenzie touched on several subjects including the performance of coach Jack Del Rio, the progress of quarterback Derek Carr, a free agent class that has so far been crucial to a turnaround, what appears to be another solid draft class led by wide receiver and No. 4 overall draft pick Amari Cooper and a remarkable performance from 39-year-old safety Charles Woodson.

Some highlights:

— Del Rio, McKenzie said, has been thorough and decisive in building on his previous eight-plus seasons in charge with the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2003 through 2011. Del Rio spent the last three season as defensive coordinator for the Denver Broncos.

“Bottom line, he’s done it before, so that’s really helped him seeing things and being able to communicate,” McKenzie said. “I think that’s played a big part in the way he’s approached this season. It’s been good _ really good.”

— The quantum leap from rookie starting quarterback to cornerstone of the franchise has worked out as planned with Carr.

“I’m never surprised with that guy,” McKenzie said. “He wants it bad. He’s going to find a way to get it done. Even if he slips and has a bad game, or makes a bad play, he’ll bounce back. That’s just him. This is his second year, second system. Hopefully he can build on that, keep him in the same system.”

— Although a believer in building through the draft, the Raiders got competitive in a hurry in large part because of the unrestricted free agent class that included center Rodney Hudson, wide receiver Michael Crabtree, defensive tackle Dan Williams and linebacker Malcolm Smith _ all standout players through six games.

“Those guys have not only produced on the field, but they’re really good leaders and locker room guys,” McKenzie said. “So the guys gravitate toward each other. They’re meshing. When you get a lot of new, moving parts, to get themto mesh, you’ve got to get the right kind of people.”

— Cooper, who has 33 receptions for 519 yards, has been as good as advertised.

“If you watch the guy play live, watch him practice, interview him, he’s a pro-mentality guy,” McKenzie said. “You don’t have to worry about nothing when he leaves this building. He’s going to study. He’s going to know what to do. ”

Second-round pick Mario Edwards Jr. has displayed power and potential in increased playing time of late, and tight end Clive Walford and linebacker Neiron Ball have made immediate contributions.

(Ball sustained a knee injury against San Diego that is not season-ending. He could miss four games or more).

— Woodson, at age 39, not only is a an NFL co-leader with four interceptions, but serving as an inspiration to every young player on the roster.

“He’s one of those guys, you just set him off to the side. He’s special,” McKenzie said. “You count on him. Whatever he’s lost, he’s going to make up for some kind of way. He is the true definition of a football player.”

— Linebacker Aldon Smith, signed after being cut from the 49ers following the latest in a string of issues involving alcohol, has played well and McKenzie said he is a part of the long-term plan.

“We did a lot of research on that, so when we say we’re going to go ahead and go after him, we just wanted him to let him join the family and help him every kind of way that we can,” McKenzie said. “That’s what we’re doing.”

Man locking Aldon up long term with Khalil would be so nice I hope it works out
Aldon has had some ups and downs but man what a blessing and opportunity for both he and the Raiders.

He may not have the conditioning, sacks, or numbers right now, but the pressure is building and will hopefully grow with time. What a steal for Reggie and the front office. The organization went out and chose to work with him and believes they have an environment in place that can help him through his life. That says something about the front office and is something that Al would've done if he were alive.

Per @PFF Gabe Jackson has gone 264 consecutive pass blocking snaps w/out allowing a sack for #Raiders. That's 5th longest active streak

"Number 69 has reported as eligible." Makes me laugh every time I hear it. Run a play for that man Musgrave. Do it.

so what was that town hall meeting about? seems like fans were just pleaded their case on why the Raiders should stay.
