Nail biters & former nail biters enter; it's time to kick the habit.

I use to do it when I was bored at work, watching tv aimlessly, and sitting in class sometimes. I'm laid back but need constant brain stimulation so when I just sit there and waste my time my brain tells itself that it needs to do something. It was annoying. I stopped biting my nails back in 08. Problem is that what I can't stop is biting the skin around my fingers. That **** has been a nastier habit for me to kick and I still struggle. I have great weeks at times but ultimately always fall back to my old habits. :smh:

Both my nails and what not look normal so I've been lucky. I've seen how people have had their nails completely mess up from all the years of gnawing.

I bite mine occasionally. I never considered it a horrible habit. I only bite them when I'm in the house and after I've washed my hands.

I was an avid nail biter a majority of my life. Last July I made a conscious decision to kick the habit and haven't bitten them since. I'm no longer self-conscious when it comes to my hands and I prefer it that way.

Did you do anything special (products, hypnosis, etc) to stop?

Sitting in the car waiting for someone to get out of work & I found myself staring at my nails. I feel like I can see the millimeters growing.

I've always wanted a manicure too. That's what I'm thinking about to help keep me on the straight and narrow.

I simply made a conscious effort to quit. For me it was simply mind over matter and what trips me out is I haven't had the urge to bite again.

Oral fixation. You probably down for mouth game

Meh it can sometimes be ocd man I freak out if my nails grow a certain length and they have to come off no matter what

I used to bite the shot out of mine in middle school. Not sure how I ended up backing off, but glad I did. The amount of germs that you could come across doing that :x

Bought a dope *** clipper set on Amazon.

Good bye to this bad habit.

Nah you are obviously not a nail biter..
As an ex nail biter i can tell u this..
The best part is to peel the top layer of your nail,
So having short nails wont help.
And also 2nd best is biting the skin around the nails
I've been "sober" for 25+yr, just keep reminding yourself to stop and it will somehow stop by itself..

There is a free and easy method.

Dig in your ears.
That nasty *** wax taste will
Shock and stop you from continuing to
Put your fingers in your mouth in like 3 days

I used to always bite my nails to the point they would bleed. I'm always chewing gum, pen caps etc. so it just all habit. I used some nail hardener on my nails one time and stop biting them down ever since.

The thing about those bitter nail solutions is that every time you wash your hands, you have to reapply. Well, at least the couple brands I've tried. I had one that left the skin around my nails orange too.

I used to bite my nails and the skin around then fiendishly when I was younger. Then by maybe the end of middle school I just stopped. Now I only bite it if it's torn, and the urge to bite more frequently hasn't hit me at all.

I guess I attribute it to a combination of me growing into someone who has trouble forming/maintaining habits, wanting longer nails for some reason, and becoming more aware of how unsanitary it can be.

Well wishes on kicking the habit young gods.

Been biting my nails since I can remember, I've tried quitting a few times with mild success. Until something happens where I get anxious/nervous for some reason and just go ham. The habit then picks back up where it left off. You'd think I learned after I got a bad infection on my thumb due to me biting off a hang nail but nope, still doing it to this day. I'm gonna try to stop though today. NT fam we can do it.

I bite my nails too. Idk why.

My lady says I'm nervous or some bull like that. But it's even like that. I just built the habit my whole life and it's second nature haha

Never thought about quitting either. And I don't bite my nails as bad as that dude who posted the pic in the spoiler as well.
