Does/Did Tupac have street cred

Yes, because we all do the right thing 100% of the time, right?

We're ALL hypocrites.  Pac was, too.  That doesn't take away from the power his voice had, however.

Anything else?
I agree his voice was powerful 100% the most powerful we will ever see, but he should get praise for that and that only

anything else is false he wasn't this immortal G that people seem to keep memory of the last 20 years

Before he got locked up he wasn't praised at all

"Compton Prince" 's bizarre, irrational criticism of Tupac isn't uncommon. Tupac was a sex symbol. Women fancied him. Narcissistic men who think it's their duty to sexually engage with anything they're attracted to will always resent the men they think hold the power they aspire to.

NaS has more street cred than Tupac. Nas and his goons pulled straps out on Pac in the middle of the park and NaS had to tell them to chill out. He spared his life, B

You wish. I'll probably just listen to the 7 Day Theory twice over and appreciate him as an artist. I won't indulge in what whatever meaningless inconsequential, adolescent "mental" battles you have with the dead hero.

This thread doesnt belong on NT.
Half of the posters on here were not even alive or were babies at the height of Pac's fame and political power.

But as far as street cred goes, he did get shot 9 times, and by definition that gives him at least a little street cred.
50 Cent got shot twice and lied and said it was 9 times and got street cred from it so...

I was a freshman in college when Tupac got killed and honestly wasn't a huge fan of dude. Sure I liked some of his music, but he came off as a loud mouth to me who liked attention and someone who stayed in unnecessary trouble to try to prove he was tough.

That said, I think he had a ton of talent and charisma and was definitely appreciated by other artists who did actually come from the streets and for that, he got a lot of love. But saying he had credibility because he got shot during a botched robbery is a little silly.

Pac was getting used. Wasn't Suge paying him in cars and jewelry on Death Row? Pac was like a gangster's mascot or cheerleader... MOST of these gangsta rappers are. They're telling you other people's stories or just making them up out of thin air.

50 got shot 9 times, wtf are you talking about
He got stabbed too

50 had street cred since back in the days when he use to rob dice games and punch ****** in their face. He had clout before the shooting

I dont know about street cred, but I know he was one helluva actor/poet/rapper...

Pac's demise when it came to street cred was that he was too smart and compassionate to fully commit to that lifestyle. Dudes in the streets aint writing poetry, voicing their opinions about politics, trying to get gang members together across the U.S. to allow the kids to have times when they could play safe outside. The "thug" image was just that, an image and the media harped on it consistently.

Pac was bigger than street cred. He wanted to start his own political party for the common folk. SWS's saw it as a threat and took action.
