2015 NFC North Trash Talk Thread: GB loses Div Rd, MIN loses WC Rd, DET/CHI N/A - Page 3

There is literally nothing objective or fact based that suggests Nick Fairley is a top ten interior lineman.

He was the definition of inconsistency

For every good game he had he another one where he was invisible

Again, not responding to somebody that thinks his contract was due to anything on the field. It's just hilarious.

Its hilarious you think an arrest in 2012 dramatically impacted the free agency of a "top ten" interior linemen in 2015.

Do you need me to site other players that are legitimately top ten players at their position that had off the field problems and still got more years and money than Nick Fairley?

Out of shape and teams are concerned about his knee long term. His $5 million contract has little to do with him when he's on the field at full health AND in-shape... but he's often not, so that's where the consistency problems come in because his game is visibly affected by those factors.

He's shown on two occasions (middle of 2012 and first eight of last year) for about an eight-game span in each that he can be dominant, so you really think he's going to his whole career without somebody crossing paths with him that won't be able to lock those factors down that bring about his inconsistencies (the one in his control, the type of shape he's each year from Aug-Jan w/o exception) down? It's not like this dude has Aldon Smith or Sheldon Richardson trouble off the field... he'll eventually get out of his own way with minor problems that somebody with the Rams or with his new team in 2016 will be able to corral and bring in. That's a minor roadblock to what will be a major payoff.

I'll bet you $100 Tyrunn Walker plays more games, has more sacks and is higher rated by pff

Put your money where your mouth is.

If all those things don't happen you get $100

When all of those things happen you give me $100

The odds are in your favor

Its football, teams surprise every year. You can't write off almost any NFL team.

With that being said, the Bears are horrible.

O I'm sorry

..

The drop off from your starting RB to your mid second-round pick who is 5-foot-9 is slight?

The running game was going to be bottom-third in the league when healthy, can't imagine what it could develop into if these training-camp injuries become a season-long/lingering issue. **** is Kevin Jones doin, beg him out of retirement like the Bills did with Orton.

Mike McCarthy adjusting to not having play-calling duties

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

By Darrin Gantt, PFT

Packers coach Mike McCarthy may need to find a whistle to twirl, or learn card tricks.

Because even though he joked that he was “bored stiff” in his first game not calling offensive plays, the result was good enough in their preseason opener that he was encouraged by the progress of the new process.

“It looked like I didn’t know what to do with my hands?” McCarthy said, via Jason Wilde of ESPNWisconsin.com. “That’s funny. I’ll work on it. I’ll go look at the tape.”

Jared Allen: Starting defense got “slice of humility” against Dolphins

Posted by Josh Alper on August 14, 2015, 11:05 AM EDT

The Bears defense was a wreck last season and the team hired Vic Fangio as their new defensive coordinator in hopes of improving their results this season, but the first outing of the preseason looked like more of the same.

Ryan Tannehill completed 6-of-7 passes while driving the Dolphins 85 yards on 14 plays to open the day before ending his night with a short touchdown pass to Jarvis Landry. The defense looked different with Fangio using a variety of looks that haven’t been seen in Chicago in the recent past, but the execution didn’t look much better for a unit that linebacker Jared Allen thought was looking pretty good in recent practices.

“It’s a good little slice of humility,” Allen said, via the Chicago Sun-Times. “And lets you know where you’re at, and things you can work on.”

Coach John Fox agreed that the team was not a “well-oiled machine” on Thursday, but didn’t go too far beyond that in criticism of the team’s first preseason outing. Given recent history, it will be harder to shrug off similar performances in the next couple of games.

So for clarity's sake.

You believe that Joique Bell is a better running back than Ameer Abdullah?

Since this is the 2015 trash talk thread for this specific year: for sure

I watched a lot of Big Ten football the past few years. Tevin Coleman's a better rusher IMO, wasn't ever all that impressed by Abdullah other than those times he had those huge outlier performances.

Outside of the 45-yard run, Abdullah toted a 3.6 yard per carry average last night.

Yeah, six carries for 22 yards is 3.6 yards per carry.

Remove runs of 40 yards or more from any running backs yardage and you are going to see a decline

It's hilarious you are trying to make this point while saying Tevin Coleman was a better back.

Lol Is that supposed to be bad? Especially after removing a 45 yard run? What would AD ypc be if we took his big runs out of the equation?

His big run, singular, and SneakerPro of course we're going to see a decline. But I see 3.6.

That's not good, it means aside from the one play where everybody broke down and he got loose, he wasn't successful. And who even cares, it's only one game in the preseason but that's what I have to evaluate right now. Fluid opinions as the games roll in, should be that way for everybody.

I get this is the trash talk thread and what not but your criticisms of the Lions are lightweight absurd.

If you said Matt Stafford isn't good or the offensive line is unproven and wasn't good last year you would have a solid case.

But using Nick Fairley who only played 7.5 games last year and statistically the defense didn't fall off one bit in his absence and Ameer Abdullah yards per carry just doesn't make sense.

You better than this man.
