We are wasting the prime of several of our players careers. Poor personel choices, Joique Bell is done and he was in the game for several drive killing plays yesterday.

Also our D-Line outside of Ziggy is a disgrace, CJ Mosely was our backup DT last year and better than any of these guys we have on the roster. Ngata is washed up, dude has absolutely no pass rushing skills which is a big part of why the defense was good last year, we had guys up front that would get up field and pressure the QB. These guys can't pass rush, hell, they can't even stop the run!! They ******* suck.

Our coaching staff up to the GM all need to be told to pack their **** and leave. We have had some of the worst drafts as well in recent memory, drafting guys in high rounds that don't even see the field. THAT CANNOT HAPPEN
We draft small at the CB position, often taking guys several rounds ahead their grade, these mother ******* don't play.

B​ruh, I think we have already reached the event horizon. We are just waiting on Caldwell to have his "take the wind", "I don't coach that stuff", "throw the flag on a non-challengeable play", "run James Stewart 4 times in a row during preseason" moment and then his Lionization will be complete.
 
No way can a team with the skillset we have manage to only score 12 points at home on SNF. Its almost impossible but the Lions did it. Ive been sooooo dissapointed before by them. I tell myself DONT EVEN WORRY YOU'VE SEEN WORSE FROM THEM but me as a highschool defensive coordinator can call way better plays to get our guys open. The running backs need to be riddick and abdullah. Bell is having a terrible start. They double CJ obviously so someone else HAS to be open but we just cant scrap up 7 good plays in a row and keep drives alive like the good teams. Gonna be a long year.

He said in EACH of the 3 games played, players told him "We already know what you're gonna run"



Of course, I can tell the plays before the ball is snapped while I am sitting on my couch. Our play calling is some of the worst I have seen at ANY level of football. I am so disgusted in this team it is seriously ruining my week before it started.

I'm just happy the players are speaking out.

Its just tragic.

Even Collingsworth was like "I have no more commentary" at the end of the Sunday night game

We need to fire Caldwell and Lombardi and make Austin interim head coach. Caldwell has lost the locker room, he is done. Even the players can see the problem and the coach is oblivious. Total joke all around.

Lions fans could easily dig their feet in despite what's gone wrong and pointed to the 13 games that are left, but I'm (not that what I think matters, but) pretty happy to see us talk about "the now" and be realistic rather than just prop up the minority opinion that certain Lions fans on other boards are probably doing. There were times last night it looked easy for Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

The hard part for teammates might have been coming up with new ways to describe it.

Backup quarterback Scott Tolzien, who grew up in Chicago, even had to switch sports to come up with a comparison.

“I mean, to me,” Tolzien said via Jason Wilde of ESPNWisconsin.com, “it’s like watching [Michael] Jordan in his prime. He’s at the top of his game. He makes it all go.”

Rodgers recalled seeing Jordan play once, when he was in eighth grade, and it left an impression on him.

“I think something inside him felt he wanted to put on a show every time he went out, because there was somebody in the stadium that hadn’t seen him play before,” Rodgers recalled. “The last game that he played in Sacramento, I was in the top row, and it was kind of a late-addition ticket.

“He scored 33 points that night, and I was new to watching him live. I’d loved watching him on TV, but it was fun to watch him live. He always brought his A-game every night.”

Rodgers did just that last night, and if anyone had never seen him, they’d wonder if the position could be played that well again. He completed 24-of-35 for 333 yards and five touchdowns, for a passer rating of 138.5 which doesn’t seem high enough to describe his precision.

And while he’s been playing that way long enough that some might be desensitized to it, his few teammates who have played elsewhere aren’t.

“I don’t. Trust me, I don’t,” former Panthers and Bears pass-rusher Julius Peppers said. “I played on some teams where I wished I had a guy like him. I think the fans here, I think everybody takes it for granted.

“Enjoy it. Enjoy what you’re seeing.”

Everyone but the Chiefs did just that.

Ron Rivera expects Jared Allen to play well, and quickly

Jared Allen hadn’t made much of an impact for the Bears, except on the payroll.

But Panthers coach Ron Rivera thinks Allen has something left, and plans to find out soon.

The Panthers traded a sixth-round pick for the veteran pass-rusher, a move made more urgent when they realized Charles Johnson was going to miss at least a week and maybe weeks with a hamstring injury. The Bears had been shopping Allen (as part of an apparent fire sale) and the Panthers were quick to pounce.

“We didn’t want to wait when we found out there was an opportunity,” Rivera said, via Bill Voth of Black and Blue Review. “[Allen’s] a pass-rushing specialist. He plays the run very well; he’s a physical guy. He’s got good size, good hand strength, he rushes with violence, he doesn’t just sit there and work one way or the other. He’s got counter moves. We watched a lot of tape on him today to make sure this could potentially be a fit for us.”

The Panthers had previously made a deal for Seahawks wideout Kevin Norwood, but he’s only played 13 snaps in four weeks. Suffice it to say they anticipate Allen playing more.

“For the most part, defensive linemen really just go in one direction, and that’s upfield,” Rivera said.

If he can move in that direction for the Panthers, it will help while their best lineman is on the mend, and then perhaps offer greater benefits as the season wears on.

Golden Tate: Opposing defenses know what the Lions are going to do

Lions receiver Golden Tate says that in all three of the Lions’ games this season, players on the opposing defense have been able to call out the Lions’ offensive plays before they ran them.

Broncos cornerback Bradley Roby said after Sunday’s game that the Broncos knew what the Lions were going to do. Tate told Matt Dery on Detroit Sports 105.1 that he hadn’t heard Roby’s comments, but they were no surprise because other players have said similar things.

“I haven’t heard that yet from that player. I didn’t read anything about it but that’s not the first time this year that another player has said that,” Tate said. “I’ve had a couple occasions in literally each game, where they called out our play for one, then afterwards been like, ‘Hey, we knew what you guys were doing.’ I don’t know how they know or what film they’re watching that we’re giving away. That’s something we got to go back and watch our tendencies to figure out where we line up or how we line up or what formation or whatever it may be. We’ve got to figure it out because we’re clearly giving away. All three weeks, a player’s come up to me and said, ‘We knew what you were going to do.’ That’s bad.”

That’s very bad, and it calls into question why Lions head coach Jim Caldwell and offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi can’t get it fixed. The Lions are 0-3, and it’s going to be a long time before they win a game i the opposing defense knows what they’re going to do.

Lions top new waiver order

The waiver order established at the end of a given seasons lasts into the regular season, for three weeks. On Tuesday, the pecking order was reshuffled for the first time this year.

Per a league source, at the top is the Lions, thanks to an 0-3 record and a .667 strength of schedule, which is calculated by the records of their opponents.

Tied for second are the Bears and Saints, who are both 0-3 but who have a .778 strength of schedule. Priority will be determined on a player-by-player basis through a random process.

Fourth on the list are the Ravens, fifth are the Buccaneers, and tied for sixth are the Titans and Washington.

There’s a three-way tie at No. 8: Dolphins, Seahawks, Rams.

Dead last is the team who has been dead last since February: The Patriots, who are the 3-0 team with the highest strength of schedule.

The waiver order will change on a week-by-week basis until the season ends.

Greenway gives grandpa one heck of a memory; 90-Yard INT Return TD first time watching grandson in person

Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway, the team’s first round pick back in 2006, rumbled 91 yards with an interception for a touchdown on Sunday, putting the proverbial fork in the Chargers.

Making the moment more special? It was the first time his grandfather ever saw Greenway play in person. After the game, Greenway gave his grandfather the ball.

Chad told the story during a Monday visit to PFT Live, and he said plenty of other interesting things about Adrian Peterson, the reason for the team’s Week One loss to the 49ers, what they’ll have to do to beat the Broncos, whether defenses are ahead of offensive lines early in the year due to reduced practice time, and more.

So sit back, turn on your speakers and/or insert your headphones, and enjoy an extended chat with Chad Greenway. Especially since the boss won’t be there for another 10 minutes anyway.

Dude basically said what we all think.

Man if they don't fire or demote Lombardi we legit might be worst than the Bears.

Jim Caldwell should be under the lens too. Don't know if I ever support firing coaches midseason, unless there are examples of it somehow advancing a team all the way into a playoff berth. Is there a guy on the Detroit staff who Lions fans would want to see be head coach on a limited basis?

Even if there's one that is interesting at all, and somehow the Lions still finish 7-9 or 8-8 with that "temp" (cause that's all he'll be), you'll now have a Tom Cable situation where you're firing one of the better coaches you've had in the decade (though everybody's cooled on them, and realized they're not 'the one to take this team into the future' even in that limited success over the season's last 10 games or so). Bad precedent to set in general. If there are examples of a firing midseason that's led to anything though I'd be interested to hear about them.

JIm Caldwell hasn't been bad enough to get fired yet. This season isn't over and in his first full season he did go 11-5, he has address the offensive play calling though.

Considering Ziggy missed the 2nd half and Levy is still out the defense is rounding into shape.

The thing is, when has Jim Caldwell ever been a good play caller? I think he needs to take over the play calling responsibilities, fail miserably so the front office can see it is an issue with not just the offense put in place by Joe Lombardi but also with the head coach. Then he will be fired.

I was planning before the season to go to the Seattle game since that is so close to me. Now I am glad I didn't make plans. The hell with taking time off work to see this teams neutered offense under this coaching staff.

The only reason Jim Caldwell ever became relevant post-Indianapolis was because Cam Cameron was fired in-season he took over play calling in Baltimore and the offense exploded and they won a Super Bowl.

The irony is amazing. Jim Caldwell won't fire an OC in season when its how he got the job in the first place.
 
Former Golden Gophers safety Brock Vereen joins Vikings practice squad

Former University of Minnesota safety Brock Vereen is signing with the Vikings’ practice squad and will work out with the team Thursday.

“I’m very excited,” Vereen told the Pioneer Press after arriving Wednesday night in Minnesota. “I’m very happy to be here. I’m very happy for the opportunity and I hope to make the most of it. They told me I’ll come in on the practice squad with the opportunity to move up.”

Vereen was waived Tuesday by Chicago and cleared waivers Wednesday. He was a fourth-round pick in the 2014 draft.

“I guess I honestly haven’t thought about it much,” Vareen said about being waived by the Bears. “It was a bang-bang situation as far as being waived and ending up here. I’ve spent most of my time being excited about being (in Minnesota). It hasn’t really settled in yet. Hopefully, it will soon.”

The Vikings had an opening on the practice squad after linebacker Brian Peters was picked up Wednesday by the Houston Texans.

“All I can do is come in and work hard and everything else will take care of itself,” Vereen said.
