I definitely consider winning the NFC in 06 an accomplishment... But hey, I'm a Knicks fan. 

Plus sometimes you need to put things in to context. That defense was historically great and so was Hester. Making it to the Super Bowl with Rex Grossman was definitely something to watch.

I know that the end game is always to win a Super Bowl but things arent just black and white like that. It's not like "either you win the Super Bowl or your season wasnt a success." It doesnt work like that. And the fact is that over the past decade, the Packers have been by far the most successful team in this division and the Lions have been by far the least successful team.

Rookie RB Abdullah third on Lions’ depth chart

Lions rookie running back Ameer Abdullah created plenty of preseason buzz, but he’s listed as third on the team’s first depth chart of the regular season.

Coaches only make depth charts because they have to, and in many cases they are compiled by teams’ media relations department for use in weekly press releases and gameday flip cards. So, whether Abdullah being listed third was done simply because Joique Bell and Theo Riddick have been on the team before, because he’s truly behind them or just because somebody had to compile and submit a depth chart is something we won’t know until the real games begin.

The Lions play in San Diego Sunday.

Bell, who did not play in the preseason due to knee and Achilles issues, has been the team’s feature back since late in 2013. It’s fair to assume Abdullah was picked to provide an upgrade over Riddick, a third-year player, and eventually to become the feature back. Riddick caught 34 passes in a backup/third-down back role last year.

Abdullah could also be an immediate contributor in the return game. The Lions listed second-year player T.J. Jones as the first punt returner and kick returner, but Abdullah and Golden Tate figure to be in the punt return mix.

Abdullah averaged 6.8 yards per carry on 12 preseason carries and also caught one pass for 21 yards.

Lions' LaAdrian Waddle: 'Up in the Air' if I'll be ready for Week 1

The Detroit Lions open the regular season four days from now in San Diego (4 p.m., Fox), and no one's quite sure yet whether right tackle LaAdrian Waddle will be in the starting lineup.

Waddle tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee back in December and returned to practice two weeks ago. He did not play in any of the Lions' four games this preseason and said he won't know his status for Sunday's game until later this week.

"That's still up in the air," Waddle said. "We're going to kind of see how this week goes, as far as how I'm doing and how's everything feeling. If things are feeling good and we feel that I'll be good to go the whole game, then yeah, I'm going to go. But if things aren't great or if something doesn't feel right, then we might not go this week, maybe next week. I'm not sure. It's still kind of up in the air."

Waddle has started 18 games at right tackle over the last two seasons but missed time with an assortment of injuries last year.

He's just eight months removed from reconstructive surgery -- an Adrian Petersonlike return -- but said he has no concerns about the durability of his knee.

"I've had no issues with the knee so far," Waddle said. "It's more just getting out there and getting back to doing it, getting a feel for taking sets with a man pushing on me and leaning on me. It's kind of stuff like that, more getting a feel for that."

With Waddle out, Cornelius Lucas has taken most of the first-team reps at right tackle this preseason. Lucas made four starts at right tackle, including in the playoffs, and one at left tackle last year.

Rookie seventh-round pick Corey Robinson is the Lions' fourth tackle.

"I want to be there all 16 games and even in the playoffs," Waddle said. "But kind of getting ready by Week 1 was a big thing for me, personally, just because I want to be out there with the team and I want to contribute with helping this team win. So that's about where I am."

Report: DeAndre Levy out against Chargers, has 'possible internal damage'

ALLEN PARK -- Detroit Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy won't play in the season opener against the San Diego Chargers, and he could be headed for surgery.

Those revelations come courtesy of a report from Will Carroll, a former writer for ESPN and Sports Illustrated who currently works for FanDuel.

The Lions announced after practice that Levy is dealing with a hip injury, but have declined to elaborate on the injury's seriousness. Carroll says it could be serious, and Levy could be out for a long period of time.

Levy has become one of the top 4-3 outside linebackers over the past couple years, and durability has been part of his bag. He didn't miss a snap all last year.

"He obviously jumps off the film," Chargers quarterback Phillip Rivers said. "What really impresses me is how he does a little bit of everything.

"He really brings it when he blitzes."

Levy was being counted upon by the Lions to be one of the leaders of the defense, with Ndamukong Suh signing in Miami. That includes lavishing Levy with a new four-year, $33 million deal during the first week of training camp.

A month later, Levy could be shelved for the start of the season -- and who knows for how long.

The Lions say on their website that Josh Bynes likely will start against San Diego if Levy can't go.

Starting RT, Phil Loadholt - out for season.
Starting C, John Sullivan - out until at least Week 9.

Vikings down their starting RT for the entire season, and now their starting C for the first nine weeks of the season.

LT - Matt Kalil (diseased, coming off of two knee surgeries)
LG - Brandon Fusco (moving to LG from starting at RG for Vikings)
C - Joe Berger (played RG and some, if not very little C last year)
RG - Mike Harris (was slated as starting RT during preseason until Phil Loadholt went on IR after second preseason game)
RT - TJ Clemmings (rookie fourth-round pick; had a first-round stock but foot issues caused him to drop until Rd. 4)

North trash talk, here's some North love. I thought my fantasy team was worthy of a post.
10 teams PPR in the 1st year of my first ever keeper league. It was never a plan of mine but the way she went was my team ending up being North heavy and will probably be this way for years to come.
Tate was a target of mine going in and is who I think puts me over the top on a count of him being way more valuable than Calvin in the lower rounds. How valuable? FF aside I think Tate puts up bigger numbers than Calvin this year.
