2015 NFC North Trash Talk Thread: GB loses Div Rd, MIN loses WC Rd, DET/CHI N/A

Man, last game so sloppy. Teddy was just atrocious that game.. he made a good pass to Diggs and Diggs scampered away for the TD but overall he didn't look good at all. Granted we were on the road where the Bears always play us well, but if we're going to be a Wild Card team, and possibly contend for Division, he needs to start making better reads and not force things (that first INT forced to Diggs is not a good look). Defense played well really, just a few miscues, hopefully Everson's stinger in the neck isn't too bad, he's been banged up all year.

What's the word on Clemmings, he went out with an injury late for us.. after the announcers jinxed us saying these OL have played as a unit all year, smh lol. Tough stretch coming up, we need to protect Teddy and hopefully he can put on a great performance.. we can't rely on our defense each week, and AP's been gettin bottled up for the most part lately. Rhodes needs to stop getting called for so many penalties.

We need to try and ship Patterson before the deadline, maybe get a 4th or 5th.. 'cause we certainly aren't getting much more. Maybe some OL help.

I'm excited for the team to start off as hot as we are, considering we lost the opening game to a bum 9ers squad, and were neck and neck with Denver til our line killed us late....have a long way to go to contend with the best.

Oh and Charles Johnson bailed Teddy out on that catch to win the game on a FG, wasn't a great pass at all.. Charles just made a HELL of a grab.

if Matt Cassel or Christian Ponder was our QB, do we win that game yesterday? Teddy was 7-10 111 yards and a TD in the last 4 minutes of that game. he was awful for 3.5 quarters but came through when it mattered. That throw to Johnson was a good pass. he put that ball in a spot where Johnson could make a play on it. What about Teddy 19 yard gain when it was 2nd and 17? I expect inconsistents from a young 22 year old QB.

I'm not expecting him to not make mistakes, it's just a lot of them are the same ones he's made previously this year. He's a good QB, just need him to make smarter reads. And I disagree about the Johnson catch.. but hey, it worked out for us.. that's all that matters.

Walsh has finally gotten his head out of his *** though, has looked really good the past few weeks.

a lot of people was ready to throw Blair Walsh away after a few misses. He seems to be out of his Kicking Slump. he was money on sunday

Jim Caldwell has found the Lions’ problem: The negative media

Posted by Darin Gantt on November 3, 2015, 12:26 PM EST

Quick, somebody get Jim Bob Cooter to the podium.

Lions coach Jim Caldwell has plenty of problems at the moment, but apparently has some issues with the coverage of his 1-7 football team.

Via Justin Rogers of MLive.com, Caldwell told reporters there that Detroit was the most negative media market he’s ever coached in.

It might have something to do with a few decades of losing interspersed with fleeting hope. The Lions are 529-632-32 all-time, have won zero Super Bowls and have made two playoff appearances in the last 15 seasons.

But nope, it must be the reporters, who continue to print scores which include the Lions being on the wrong side of the hyphen.

He also referred to the media room at the Lions facility as “the dungeon of doom” (via Ashley Scoby of CBS Detroit).

Part of Caldwell’s issue might simply be a lack of perspective, having worked in small and/or successful markets such as Tampa Bay, Indianapolis and Baltimore prior to his arrival. And when he was building a 26-63 record at Wake Forest in the 1990s, there were those nasty critics at the Winston-Salem Journal but otherwise nobody really cared.

And perhaps it was a simple aside on his way into a deeper point. Caldwell is generally an insightful and thoughtful coach. But maybe the pressure that comes with having to jettison his offensive coordinator before their trip to London has caused him to look for enemies, and find them where they’re not hiding.

Report: Bears discussing adding Montee Ball with Forte injured

Posted by Josh Alper on November 2, 2015, 3:46 PM EST

The Bears don’t think that they’re going to lose running back Matt Forte for the rest of the season because of the knee injury he suffered against the Vikings on Sunday, but they are still reportedly looking at an addition at the position.

Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that the Bears are discussing the possible addition of Montee Ball. Ball was a second-round pick of the Broncos in 2013 and looked set to take over the starting job in Denver last year before injuries limited him to five games. Ball was waived in September as the Broncos set their initial 53-man roster.

Ball’s two years with the Broncos came when John Fox was the team’s head coach and Adam Gase was their offensive coordinator. Both men are now with the Bears, which would likely make it easier for Ball to hit the ground running with a new team halfway through the season.

Jeremy Langford got the work at tailback after Forte’s injury and will likely be in the mix even if Ball should come to Chicago.

I don't remember the last time I turned on a coach so fast.

Negative media  You 1-7 and you just got washed bad another bad team.

All the coaches hired in 2014 suck.

I want Hue Jackson or Adam Gase, preferably Gase.

Ian Rapoport saying Stafford's status up in the air after 2015. Could be completely blowing it up.

@freepsports: CONFIRMED: #Lions oust GM Martin Mayhew and president Tom Lewand. https://t.co/8njcuRuxTO

@jkatzenstein: Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin: "I haven't heard anything so I’m assuming I’m still employed."

@RapSheet: The future beyond 2015 for #Lions QB Matthew Stafford is very much in doubt, as I understand it.

@JasonLaCanfora: Next Lions GM will have decision to make on Stafford. Contract is trade-able in '16 from cap perspective. Would be many suitors for him

@ttwentyman: Lions owner Martha Ford will make a statement to the media at 2 p.m.

Stafford is my guy but if the next GM says he's out then it's been real.

I think he's gonna flourish at his next stop with the right coach.

Carson Palmer was *** for 2 different teams linked up with Arians and is flourishing

I don't see why that cant happen here.

@christomasson: Neither Anthony Barr or Eric Kendricks practicing today now reason for concern. Joe Berger and Stefon Diggs both back, Sharrif Floyd still out

Brian Murphy @murphPPress
#Vikings injury report: Kendricks, Floyd out. Barr (back) questionable but Zimmer said "full go.". Cole, Tom Johnson, Smith probable.

Chris Tomasson @christomasson 1m
Audie Cole will replace Eric Kendricks and make his seventh career start. HIs last one was in last year's season finale against Chicago.

Brad Biggs @BradBiggs 30m
#Bears RB Matt Forte and OLB Pernell McPhee were not participating in practice when media was allowed to view.

Brad Biggs @BradBiggs 1m
#Bears putting 3 offensive linemen through a tryout after practice today.

Dan Wiederer @danwiederer 1m
Bears RB Matt Forte will not play Monday night in SD, clearing the stage for Jeremy Langford to make his first start.

Ian Rapoport @RapSheet 1m
That stings. @JeffDarlington says the #Packers won’t have CB Sam Shields today. Makes life a bit tougher for the Pack.

Joe Person @josephperson 1m
Neat moment: #Panthers asst Rock Rodgers posing for a picture on the field with his son Richard Rodgers, #Packers TE.

Floyd and Kendricks out :x

Barr may miss the game too.. I'm scared about Gurley now

Steve Wyche @wyche89 1m

I think Gurley was gonna get his regardless. I need this offense to step it the f up though. Ya know?

Heading to a Vikings bar here in Seattle for the first time. My friends always mentioned it, once it was discovered, but it'll be nice/interesting to watch a game with some like-minded folks for a change.

Barr's playing. Quinn, Long, McDonald out for Rams. Should be interesting.. need to get AP going early or we're in for a long game.

Truuu

Agreed about the offense. Been hard to watch

JPZx staying the the Lions slander even though we put a whooping on your crappy little team every year

This year will be no different.

I see the Lions gonig 11-5 or 12-4 this season. D Line is a question mark but I think we will be okay
I'm to the point to where I'm not even kinda concerned about any team except the Packers.

Going 5-1 again in the division.
Squaddddd

One pride we back in this thang

13-3 book it
How is any of that ridiculous? We went 5-1 in the division last year. The offense sputtered all season long and we still went 11-5. Another year under Joe Lombardi with the whole core of the offense back and a better offensive line and we can't win ONE more game? Now who really sounds ridiculous? Our kicker legit lost us about 3 games last year [emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji]

The Lions have arrived, y'all dudes just gone have to face it. We been to the lowest of the lows but y'all couldn't keep us down forever. Only thing guaranteed in life is change...Its a new day.
We had Suh for years without being in the top 10 on defense...Teryl Austin is the main reason our defense was the way it was and last time i checked he's still the defensive coordinator and will most likely be a head coach next year. Do your googles B.
Top to bottom this is the best Lions roster of my lifetime.

My only concern is the right tackle and backup quarterback position
But yeah, I can see that I cant win vs yall and your homerism. Nor do I even want to, because in all honesty it is extremely entertaining. I'll just wait for the season to start and watch you likely be proven wrong by the only thing you will listen to: on field results. So I will follow your advice and sit this one out and go back to being an extremely amused observer.
