I always was curious about PES, i need to try it out cuz the fifa A.I./gameplay system be pissing me off. Im over here trying to build up play, 1-2 passing and ****** just blowing by me running with no thought and blasting goals with a center back inside the box i take it too literal but i do wish it wasnt just about speed in fifa, i hear passing and build up is acutally important to do well in PES

I've always been a fan of Winning Eleven/PES, but haven't bought the game in a few years... didn't realize FIFA had done so well over the past few years.

To who? To the people/kids who haven't played games prior to the PS3/Xbox 360 generation and don't know better?

I've followed both series since the mid 90 and ISS Deluxe on the SNES. FIFA was better from 2009 until 2014. Up until 2008 PES was a better series and during the PS2 and PS1 era it was a better game by far, as far as gameplay was concerned.

FIFA would take YEARS to match the analogue-ness and variety of goal scoring that ISS Pro/Goal Storm 97 offered:

The one unfair and cheap advantage FIFA had that PES didn't have for many years is the names license, which alone was enough for people to buy FIFA over PES. I remember all the kids in my class wanted FIFA because of this very reason alone, or rather more accurately they didn't want PES because it didn't have real names.

Define "day 1"? September 2008? When did you start playing?

I've been playing since the first half of the 90s. I've never been a fanboy of a single series anyway, just which games were better. And FIFA had a 6 year run between 09 and 14 where it was better, but that is over for this year at least. You shouldn't even feel too bad about it. Because competition can only result in better games.

Not a fanboy of anything video game, console related but I prefer Fifa over pes. Flaws and all it more fun to me. That double tap to tackle in pes kills me and no I'm not about to mess with the settings and sliders, I never have in any game and never will.

nah man nah, 15 was a big improvement over 14.

anyways PES 15 was bretty good.

The only thing that keeps people hooked to fifa nowadays is FUT with some people in it for pro clubs.

PES is the better game this year, but their FUT mode or whatever just can't compete with FUT breh's. It just can't...

oh yea, PES makes it really difficult to execute skill moves... not that they're that great on 16 either.

Been buying nothing but PES for years now. The game is just better. The movement the touches the play builds. It plays better than fifa and has for years. Was over fifa when basically top speed = good player. You can't just do skill moves all the time and blow past people. The defense AI matters so does flow of play and perfectly timed runs.

The thing that gets me is in FIFA they can't call it the UEFA CL and in PES they can't have the EPL. Both games have strengths and weaknesses though to me i'll probably get both.

I'd even go a bit further back to the Perfect Eleven days... commentary from my Super Famicom cartridge... blew my mind back then.  

But yeah, the early DNA of the Winning Eleven/PES franchise.  That was so much fun back then... The reason why I stuck with WE all this time.

All the other FIFA games felt like they were just ported from PS3-PS4 up until this year. This feels like it was developed for PS4.

I played the PES demo and it was great. I'm definitely going to buy that also when a good holiday sale pops up.

The real version came out yesterday, or are you all talking about the demo, because I thought it was coming out tomorrow. I've played the demo, and yes, the defense is improved, and like Prime said, you can't just use Theo or any other speedsters and just blaze through on goal. You actually have to play the game smart this time. I might give in to a playstation plus account, so I should be able to play y'all. I probably won't be able to get the game until the weekend anyways.

How UEFA continues to let them have total reign with the CL license beats me when you don't even have the real team names

That's the thing... Manchester Reds and whatnot vs the handling of the game.  I, too, was tempted by FIFA at one point cuz of the licenses, but I just didn't like the handling and gameplay.  Good thing the PES customization was decent enough that I could find super-accurate customized files online.

I'll take your word for it. I could probably find some good customized files but I feel weird switching things up since I got back in the Fifa mood recently . 15 was my first Fifa bought in years and I got hooked again . Might get PES further down the line though just to have another option when people/I get tired of losing at Fifs

Good thing the PES customization was decent enough that I could find super-accurate customized files online.  

99.9% probability that those were made by the game developers themselves and then just put on the custom server because those look way too good to be done by an amateur. Can't sue them if they're technically "custom".

I've tried to get into PES but like the general consensus them not having licensing turns me off. I think over recent years they've managed to get barca, Real Madrid and Bayern I think. They still have UCL too. Another thing to note is that they do have a solid fan base because the Japanese video game company Konami makes it so they have full licensing of the J-League, K-League and I think China's. I remember like FIFA 08 has the K-league then being taken out the next FIFA instalment
