His dad is African and he even plays for Gabon internationally, don't know how he wouldn't/shouldn't be considered African . Kanouté was also born in France but won it a while back also,Yaya's just pissed that he didn't get it undeservingly for the 5th time in a row

This puts it into some perspective on why he would say "yaya will take care of yaya anfrica can take care of africa" or whatever. He seems salty because he puts on for his continent more then Aubameyang. But i mean isn't the award for best african player? Not best spokesman? Player who has the most respect for Africa?

Yaya a *****

Aubemayang plays for Gabon

Idk the exact history of it but seems like dude tried playing for Italy and France too and chose Gabon just to be guaranteed caps.

I mean from the whole birthday cake thing it seems like Yaya isn't coming from the right place  but I can see why another person might have an issue with this. Players who are born and raised in Europe as opposed to Africa probably have advantages that aren't available to those in Africa. And can't relate to and understand being a "champion" of the continent in the same way. But at the same time It's difficult if you create a double standard and let a dude like Kanoute win it even if he seems more like he can relate and put on for the continent than someone like Aubameyang.

Imo, for this situation with gray-areas, if Yaya or another African-born+raised player gave Aubameyang competition I'd give them the nod. But nobody from the continent was even close to touching him this year. Imo it was deserved, and Yaya should be a gentleman.

I still don't get where the sour grapes are coming from when this dude has won it the last 4 years . Let someone else get some shine for once. If he expected to win it because the Elephants finally did what's expected of them and won an AFCON than he should ask Mikel where his award is for that .

So the folks at NBC have decided that the Monday game will be:

Chelsea vs Tottenham......U-21s to be specific.

Crazy right? Live match on NBCSN @ 2:30PM. Should be interesting....never though I'd see a live U-21 match broadcasted in the US.
