RIP to Ghanaian legend, Charles Kumi Gyamfi…

The first African player in Germany, and first coach to win three #AFCON titles.

We will see at the end of the season

If Arsenal finish above Man U LVG should be fired right?

Since Arsene is clearly an inferior manager, coach and arsenal are an inferior team right?

:nerd:

I don't think arsenal are an inferior team at all. I think LVG has a tougher situation right now trying to get all these new pieces together. But does anyone think Arsenal will win the league or CL? If that is the goal i think you try for it (I also say this in complete ignorance to Arsenal's money situation for all i know they really can't afford some players they targeted). And i think that team is honestly maybe 2 players away from a real shot at it.

WENGER: MARTIAL COST €80m

Arsene Wenger has claimed Manchester United spent €80m on Anthony Martial, and that sums up a stagnant transfer market.

Wenger told beIN Sports he has been told the deal could be worth as much as €80m - around £59m at current rates - for a 19-year-old still uncapped at international level.

"What happened last night with Monaco, who sold Martial to Manchester United for €80m, I've heard... Martial scored 11 goals in the French championship - that sums it up well.”

WHO IS MARTIAL?

The biggest deal – in terms of money – on Deadline Day saw Manchester United sign Anthony Martial from Monaco for £36m, (or possibly even more, according to Arsene Wenger).

The 19-year-old becomes the world’s most expensive teenager, but what’s he like?

We profile Manchester United’s new No9, dubbed “a young Thierry Henry”.

ZLATAN: MILAN WANTED ME

PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed former club AC Milan wanted to re-sign him, but he decided to stay with the French champions.

Speaking to reporters ahead of Sweden’s Euro 2016 qualifiers against Russia and Austria, he said he is happy to remain in France.

"It was concrete from their side and they showed great interest, but I said from the beginning that I am staying at PSG, I'm happy there.”

ADEBAYOR TOO MUCH FOR HAMMERS

West Ham co-chairman David Gold says Slaven Bilic pulled out of a deal to sign Emmanuel Adebayor because he was “very expensive”.

It is understood Tottenham were happy to let the 31-year-old leave, but the club and player couldn’t agree terms over buying out the remainder of his contract.

BERAHINO BEHAVIOUR ‘APPALLING’

Saido Berahino's behaviour on Deadline Day was “appalling”, Jamie Redknapp told Sky Sports News HQ.

"I think Berahino is a very good player, but to behave like that is appalling.

"To say you're never going to play for West Brom again. What are you going to do for six months? You've got to play some football somewhere.

"It's a ridiculous thing to say for the young man."

COLE REJECTED NEWCASTLE

Roma defender Ashley Cole refused a deadline-day move to Newcastle, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 34-year-old has been left out of Rudi Garcia’s 21-man Champions League squad and it looks like he won’t feature prominently in the Roma coach’s plans, with a January exit on the cards.

'CHELSEA POACHED HECTOR’

Crystal Palace co-owner Steve Parish has revealed the club were about to sign Michael Hector from Reading before Chelsea waded in.

The Blues signed the defender for £4m yesterday, but Parish told Holmesdale Radio the Eagles were in pole position until the Premier League champions made an approach.

"We had a deal for Michael Hector at Reading – that was a done deal and we thought we had that one. Unfortunately the might of Chelsea came in and the player chose to go there, so at least we're getting the right targets.

"I am sure Michael will do very well at Chelsea and we wish him all the best. We don't hold grudges, Chelsea are a big club and I think he has supported them since a kid, so you can understand why he chose them."

DE GEA STATEMENTS IN FULL

It all went a bit “he said, she said” after Real Madrid failed to sign David de Gea from Manchester United.

Real released a statement before the Premier League club responded.

WENGER’S FAITH JUSTIFIED?

Arsenal have made just one summer signing in the form of Petr Cech, as Arsene Wenger appears to trust that Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott will provide the goals they need.

We examine the stats, which suggest he’ll need much more from his forwards if the doubters are to be silenced.

Have a read here.

Wenger is making excuses here.

He knows damn well that figure is not 80m. It has a bunch of add ons which most of them are HIGHLY unlikely...Ballon D'Or? Golden Boot (in the league with Aguero)

Sure 36m quid is a lot. It's a hell of a lot, but let's not front like United made an EFT for 58m pounds right off the bat.

Don't know how reliable this is, coming from the Star but this is what happened yesterday according to an OT "insider"

Navas rang United chief executive Ed Woodward this morning to ask what he could do to still make the deal happen and join United. Real refused to let Navas travel to Old Trafford to undergo a medical, even insisting he didn't need one.

Club president Florentino Perez got cold feet when Spanish paper Marca ran a poll that revealed fans wanted the keeper to stay
.

It's not that far out to think that Flo's reactionary ways would take a fan poll into account in his decision making .

Here was the poll

Don't know if I fully believe it but it's funny

*Just found this gold little tidbit from a recent Rakitic interview

Rakitić: "Rejecting Chelsea at Basel? There was another guy who went there at 17, he ended up in the Swiss League 2. That could've been me."

Not sure if I like the design. It will grow on me anyway.

The new stadium would hold 60,000 and it's due to be completed by 2020 at a cost of £500m. Chelsea would have to move out of SB for 3 years.

I've learned not to bite on those types of posts anymore, the trolling is blatant .

A more interesting question would be if the Gooners finish lower than 2nd,will the season be considered a success? I remember just a few weeks back all the huge title hype before the season started and it reached a fever pitch after the community shield

The season is only a success if Arsenal wins some real silverware. We can count out the Champions League, which leaves the PL. And unless Arsenal brings in Ronaldo or Zlatan or the reincarnated body of Thierry Henry in January, we can count that out as well. So this season will not be a success.

At least in most fans eyes. "Give us another FA Cup and we're happy," the lames will say. Minus whale give us another decade of settling for the 3/8 chubby girl alone at the bar at 2 am during last call :smh:

See and this is an issue for me.. I know I don't work anywhere closely to the team and watch their trainings but why wouldn't you take them? I'm a huge ozil fan and feel the criticism is unfair but to not take Cesc because we have ozil, come on Wenger. It really is amazing how much trust Arsene has with his players and it was must be very reassuring to have him as a manager. Though I don't understand how Arsene truly believes this squad can challenge for the league. But like I said already I'm not in training and I am no manager, wenger is one of the very few managers who work so closely with their squads day in and day out.

Not taking Cesc back is looking like a very shrewd move thus far... I love Cesc but dude might be a tad overrated

 at dudes asking if LVG should be fired when he's in the process of re-establishing the foundation of the club.

:smh: the bait is strong in here.

Cesc is fantastic, but always runs out of gas midway through the season.

Wengers gonna be coaching Henry's kids at Arsenal in some years at this rate. His teams are never good enough but they're never bad enough to warrant a sacking either . Straight up Neverending cycles

Very true but for what his reported buy back was for Arsenal (around 20-25 million) I would've taken him. Plus he almost beat the PL assist record last season.

Agreed. I would have definitely welcomed him back if I was an Arsenal fan/management. Even if he runs outta gas, there's a lotta points he could help secure early on.
