The thing is fans will say the league is weak either way, to suit their argument, that's what annoys me.

Leicester top of the league? The Premier League is weak.

Oh look, City, Chelsea, United and Arsenal competing for the title again? There's no competition the league is weak.

We're joint top because we've been better than 18 other teams, and we're only behind the 19th team on goal difference. We've not beaten any of the so called "Top 4" bar Chelsea, who are having an awful season, but let's not ignore the fact that we've beaten Norwich, West Brom, West Ham and got something at Southampton, all of which have beaten Arsenal or at least took a point. Bournemouth beating United, Stoke beating City and United.

The league is stronger this year, people just don't like to admit it because it doesn't suit them.

I'm with you Heggsy.

Shade gets thrown at you guys every week, but you're winning.

Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea... They're like the Chicago Bulls, Lakers, and Celtics of football. They're washed right now, but since Cleveland, Houston, and Golden State are out here cookin' the league is "weak". All because its not what it used to be for them.

I hope you continue to have a good campaign and come back next year just as strong.

Let's be fair, if Mourinho could face Wenger every week he would never have been fired

Too bad he doesn't tho.

I agree with @HEGGSY
I think it means the league is getting stronger. The fact that City, Arsenal, United, Chelsea, Liverpool are not necessarily struggling but having to deal with the competition getting better now meaning they won't cruise through the league. People will say those teams have world class talent and the money and should cruise trough the league and only have to worry about each other and teams like Leicester, Watford, Palace and Stoke shouldn't give them trouble but I think the players on those teams and they way they are being managed right now might be better than we give them credit for. And lets not forgot clubs like Spurs, West Ham, Swansea and Everton have always been ready to give the top clubs trouble for years. and I don't think any of this is because the top clubs are getting weaker sure they aren't performing to their old standard (not including City cause our old standard used to be **** depending on how far back we are talking about  ) to me it has more to do with the middle table clubs are getting stronger. I think this is a great thing for the league.

I agree

IMO it's not even an argument regards to the league being stronger. It absolutely is. There's a notable compression between mid-table and the top.  I think this is the CAUSE of a percived weaker top 2 or 3 teams - excluding the Mourinho meltdown at Chelsea

You have to go back quite a few years to find a team at the top of the table after xmas on 39 points as Arsenal are now. Last year Chelsea had 46, year before Arsenal 42, before that Man U on 49 and city on 45. This is the result of a stronger league in my mind, no doubt.

It's going to hurt the Champions League quota though when you have La Liga with teams getting pasted by 8 or 9

Man, I know I don't post in this thread much, but I've been lurking for a while and I don't know if some of you guys are trolling or not

Somehow, since Arsenal are tied with Leicester at the top of the league we're buns? Leicester have been balling out of their minds man, especially for a club that just came out of the championship only a few seasons ago. All the credit goes to them. So if we (Arsenal) are buns, what does that say about every other top prem club then? We're on top of the table.. you're not.. Every season it seems like something is happening at Pool, MU, MC or Chelsea and everyone always seems to take out their frustration for their team on Arsenal by gassing them for never winning the league.

Watch, dudes right now are saying "Arsenal better win the league it's the perfect time while every other team is weak."

But if we do win the league y'all going to say "Arsenal are trash they won the league while everyone else was weak"

Arsenal fans springing out like the annoying weeds they are. Hopefully New Castle deals with them proper.

everything @HEGGSY said is facts. The mission of trying to discredit any progression/results of other clubs is obvious. The salt from the ManU and Chelski is quite hilarious and awesome

Bruh, deep down you know that ain't happening.

And I don't see how we're any more annoying than any other fan of any other team in any other sport when they're winning.

Did I say the league was weaker? Don't think so,just that the gap between the top 4 and everyone else is so tiny that just about everyone in the top half technically has a title shot at the moment. It makes for a much more entertaining season after last years snoozer thats for sure. Not throwing shade at Heggsy FC or anything at all, just remarking how unusual this season has been. You guys have honestly been the most consistent squad in the league so far...

cant help but slightly, just a bit, shake my head at these so called fans of teams who are so in to it when they dont live near or are even in the same continent as the teams they "support"

if the team i like wins im happy. if they lose then so be it. im not gona bash other teams or wish other teams lose.

to the americans in this thread, how do you feel when non state or city fans in any league support your local team

same question goes to the brits or spaniards in the thread.

salt from chelsea fans lulz

im pretty sure the chelsea fans are more worried about the stability of the club this season than caring that much about the top 4, just what I've noticed from other chelsea fans online.

But yea, say facts about arsenal and its salt. okay...

I noticed here and on reddit that some people throw salt at leicester city saying their run wont be long and just wishing ill on them for no reason.

I don't understand why throwing salt at their successful season so far is okay amongst top 4 clubs.

It's like not having the typical top 4 just grinds peoples gears or something.

Passive aggressive people are the worse.

Only support teams in your continent...if you dont have any, dont follow! Got it :rolleyes

Wonder if these leagues would still be raking in so much cash without international support/viewers

I don't care at all... I was born and raised in Massachusetts, lived their for 23 years and have been in SF for 2 years now and met a bunch of Patriot fans who aren't from New England, doesn't bother me one bit.

Almost every single Arsenal fan I've dealt with whether it be IRL or over the interwebz has been a **** one way or another. So I don't too care for the success of Arsenal. One Arsenal fan that I occasionally play in fifa and play pickup with is always talking the most trash. Dude said "Leicester was gonna run out of steam and go back to being trash blah blah blah". A month and change later and they are still up top and he is still saying the same thing. Criticizing everybody else and seems to have forgotten that his club has been just meh as some of clubs he's bashing.

As for the current condition of the prem, several teams have gotten better in the league, while some others have regressed. It's refreshing to see some of these smaller teams work many of the more dominant teams. I can actually enjoy watching a stoke game now when they play a bigger club. It was fun watching Southhampton do work against Farcenal.

I've come to accept people will follow whatever team they want for whatever reason. They are welcome to support my hometown team as long as they don't jump ship when things go to ****. I do think there is something special about supporting your home town team (I will always support Atlanta sports first) but if someone doesn't follow their hometown teams I don't care because frankly thats the norm for a section of fans in all sports. The only sports fans I have a problem with are ones that jump from team to team based off of who is currently winning at the time but even then I don't care that much because at the end of the day when it comes to sports all I care about is the Falcons, Hawks, Braves, US Soccer and Man City and i'll never not support those teams.

i love the game of football, and the majority of the best leagues are in europe. I was born in the US but because i dont live in the continent of where the most quality lives amongst that sport then i cant pick a euro club, That just makes no sense. I get the non state cheering for local, i personally prefer to cheer only for my city's teams and sometimes, i dont get when other people from other states cheer on non-local teams but everyone has their own reasons but these american sports are of the highest quality in the states, the best leagues and players amongst american football, baseball, basketball etc. are here, its the same principle except we dont have the choice of a great local team here because american culture and sports isnt about soccer as the most popular sport here, its not as developed and enjoyed like the rest of the world. So again, i love the game of football (soccer) i enjoy to watch this sport at the highest levels where all the best of the best fight against eachother in leagues across europe but because i simply wasnt born where the sport is most popular i cant support a team where its played at the highest level is just inane. Sports is purely entertainment and vice for people as we dont affect the results at all. The information put out there accessible to us is no different when the banter and debates happen amongst sports in other countries, you enjoy when your team is doing well and down when they lose.

Come on man, don't be petty and assume every fan is the same. Every fan base has it's annoying dudes I get it but not everyone is like that

The quality of football in the top leagues has gotten worse. Too many players are caught up in the celebrity aspect of the game instead of actually improving their game.

Hence you have Ronaldo and Messi looking good when in reality they are pretty average players. If you took both of them at their current age and took them back 7-10 years it would be painfully obvious

I get what you're saying. And I agree to an extent.

It's part of the reason why I began liking so many teams. Im not from these places, I'm not living in the streets/neighborhoods where these clubs play and represent so it's not as personal for me as my hometown teams. So I never really took it personal when liking teams.

I've grown to really like Arsenal though. And it's become easier for me to just follow them and enjoy being a one team fan rather than having a handful of teams to support over the last few months.

On the other hand, I grew up playing sports my entire life. So trash talking and competition is kind of part of the nature of sports for me. I don't take this **** personally or hold grudges against guys in here no matter what we've said or what clubs we support. It's a game to me. And once we talk our smack and the games end, it's whatever. If we were all in a bar I'd high five you guys and carry on with life like I always have cause they're just games.
