If you like historical - tactical stuff, the best footy books I've read are Brilliant Orange: The Neurotic Genius of Dutch Soccer by David Winner.

Inverting The Pyramid: The History of Soccer Tactics by Jonathan Wilson.

Edit - This one is good too. The Italian Job: A Journey to the Heart of Two Great Footballing Cultures by Gianluca Vialli & Gab Marcotti.

Isn't that the same book that revealed that he was devastated after Moyes was given the job after Fergie?
@CraigNorwood: José Mourinho has this afternoon signed his Manchester United managerial contract at secret location in London. Club announcement on Friday.

Mourinho's first match in charge of Manchester United will be against Borussia Dortmund over in Shanghai on Friday 22nd July.

And just like that Mourinho goes from a hate figure at Utd to the saviour.

Kinda like Ranieri went from "meh" to the greatest manager my club has ever had.

I wonder if he's still hated by the Spanish press
Yay, I guess?  I dunno.

After the last few years, definitely a yay from me . Wish it would've happened right after Fergie. Hopefully the fear factor will be back at OT next season

Pep Confidential is excellent, definitely a must read. Amazon actually sent me two copies by mistake back when I ordered it. One copy is still sitting there in the packaging if anyone wants it shoot me a pm and I can ship it out to you.

Chelsea had Jose & United by the short & curlies with the image rights. I wonder how much of that Adidas kit money United had to fork over to Roman? I can only imagine his Russian chuckle when United as on hold for him to talk to...

That was the hold up from finishing the deal earlier. That's more embarrassing for Mendes than anything else imo,how he ever agreed to let Mou sign away his own image rights over to Roman I'll never understand

Yeah, I totally get that... change was needed.  I just don't know which Jose we're gonna get!  Fingers crossed!

If I had to guess, I think Jose thought he was going to be there for a long time. Sad thing is Jose didn't evolve. He got worse. The king of blaming everyone else.

Maybe it will be different this time around.

Sir Bobby proly had a sit down with him & told Jose to knock that ish off.

Proly something like that Welcome to the layer cake son scene...

I'd like to think it will be seeing as he's been dreaming about the job for a while but who knows . This is his chance to really iron out his legacy,I'd hope he's in it for the long run and is gonna adapt to make it happen.

In terms of autobiographies or biographies, this might be my choice as the best. The writer Marti Perarnau got unprecedented access & shares a lot. It's definitely not a puff piece.

In addition to Carlo's book, some more fun footy read are Pirlo's book.

Also Ibra's book.

The Pep book is a more serious read... the Carlo, Pirlo, & Ibra books were more for fun & to read the stories they had to tell.

That Carlo book though, I stuck up for Bale from jump but he's scumbag trash. A back stabbing snake in the grass that should never ever be trusted. Says one thing & does another.

Yea I heard about how he pulled an RG3 and went to Flo through his agent first when he wasn't happy instead of going to Carlo face to face. I love Carlo's man management style, not many managers in the world can handle so many oversized ego's like he can and he always does it with calmness and grace. I can't remember the last time or if I've ever heard or seen him losing it or having an angry outburst.

Seems like the type of old school manager that would be delivering a reassuring ht locker room speech while smoking a cig

While we're still on the subject of books, I also highly recommend this one. Excellent book on modern tactics and unlike most tactical books it's focuses more so on pragmatism opposed to tactical theory. Lots of input from some well respected Italian coaches. Only problem is it's translated from Italian and the translation work is pretty poor.

@psk2310  I've got that Ancelotti book you recommended the other day in my shopping cart. Definitely gonna pull the trigger on that when I get through the current book I'm reading.

ibra's book is funny but I've later read that its not entirely true.. and some things were exaggerated.
