He was interested in joining apparently since the end of last season but word is that Woody wouldn't offer up more than 40m because LVG didn't think he was worth the $ Valencia was asking. Citeh offered them a sweeter deal and the rest is now history

*shrugs* I hear you. At the end of the day, LVG has his preferences, maybe cause no one in the market fit his preferences he was willing to settle. But the way I look at it, I just didn't see a real effort to get him.

Look at how the likes of Pedro transfer is being handled. Numerous "reliable" sources confirming interest and bids, Lord Woodward hopping on the flight to close the deal etc.

I just didn't see any of that when it came to Otamendi. I'm not saying that Otamendi wouldn't/couldn't have chosen Citeh over United, I'm just saying I didn't really see a real effort to get him...

Yes. He's so good. I've never seen someone make dribbling at pace look so easy. (Apart from Messi and the like of course) Constantly throws defenders off.

I get you man, obviously I'm just going off the media and the like. As a United fan I expect you to be more knowledgeable about how your team goes about transfers
