FIBA are stupid because basketball is the only other team sport in the world that could come close to matching the World Cup. But instead somehow the most prestigeous basketball tournament remains the Olympics, where it has to share the spotlight with a bunch of other sports. Olympics have always been about track & field and swimming, basically pushing humans to the limit and setting records in speed and strength: Who can run/swim the fastest, jump highest, throw **** furthest, etc. Team sports will always lose the spotlight in the Olympics.

And as for club level, David Stern mentioned that one day the NBA could expand into Europe, but that remains a fantasy.

Cesc is always uninspiring in the hole. When in form, Oscar is the best candidate for the spot. At times Willian seems to be more creative than Oscar in the 10, but lacks the goal threat

Guys were raving about United doing good business and instead they lost out on the two guys they've been gunning for the entire summer to their rival clubs.

I mean it has been good business though laugh.gif,we've had aa little under 10m in net spending this summer on some solid, impactful aquisitions. Missing out on both these dudes won't make or break our season but I'm sure LVG has something planned before the end of the window.

I disagree, your CB situation is in shambles and you could lose DDG at any moment.

Could very well make or break your season

Y'all were potraying Woody as the Boss Don and chanting "we sign who we want" at the beginning of the transfer window.

Overall tone among united supporters has done a 180

What a difference a few weeks makes
Shambles??? Wha the heck are you talking about man? Melodramatic much? We haven't even conceded a legit goal yet roll.gif. Of course you disagree laugh.gif.

If you've paid any attention to our matches you'd see that our defense is night and day compared to last years weekly makeshift back 4's with the likes of Evans/Jones and teenagers like Paddy and Blackett.

Now we actually have an actual CDM in Schneiderlin that can help out that line when they're in trouble and we have talented young FB's on both flanks in a 100% healthy and fit Shaw and Darmian. That's vastly superior to a rotation of Young/Blind/Rojo on the left and Valencia/Rafa on the right. Not to mention that Mike Smalling has been arguably the best English defender this season so far and has been a solid rock at the back since his sending off at Citeh last November. Now the area of concern back there for most has been Blind playing at CB but that's been mostly out of need with Rojo still not fully fit but for all the flack we've sent his way,he's held his own in the 3 matches he's played but obviously that's not a permanent solution so I'm definitely hoping for a CB signing before the end of the window.

The reason why we were ecstatic about the early summer signings from Woody was because we'd been used to the post-Fergie era of indiciveness in the market and missing out on key targets only to make overpriced, panic buys before the deadline. It was a welcome change by the fans so of course we were happy with him. Don't know why that rubs rival fans the wrong way so much but I couldn't care less ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ laugh.gif. Don't remember any "we sign who we want" chants laugh.gif but we were definitely encouraged about our transfer prospects after that. He did seal 3 deals in less than 24 hours after all. Better than the last week of the window...

I guess all this should be expected though laugh.gif

Bleacherreport :x

People said the same after missing out on Fabregas last year and we came back and got ADM,not worried one bit :lol. As long as the cash keeps flowing from these multimillion dollar sponsors, the players will come.

Some might say that Roo sounded a little dillusional there and I could see it but I like the confidence, just hope the goals will actually come soon as he says...

If not I doubt LVG will hesitate to pull an RVP on him :lol

I don't like to make predictions until the transfer market is closed, the fact the transfer window is open during the season is ridiculous in itself (thats another story) - but United def have fallen out of place in my prediction list. Might as well just have forced and kept Di Maria in all honesty.

What good would that have really done though? Dude wanted out bad since the turn of the year :lol. That would've only created another DDG like sideshow distraction in the locker room

Who cares what he wanted, he was under contract- then he has to play. RM/RW would have been his position which he's always preferred anyways. I just don't understand what United are doing now when they just let Di Maria go. I don't get it.

Now they need RW, ST, and a CB. It's crazy. So much pressure on Memphis is carry this team now because Rooney and his chemically induced head is in lala land mean.gif
post #1256 of 50774

He'd be forced to play and then bottle it even more than he did last year...we played MUCH better and by far our best football with him on the bench last season, against some top clubs too. I would agree with you if he had Falcao's determination and heart to prove himself but that was lacking. He just never fit in to the whole possession based philosophy. I still swear that he would've flourished under SAF but LVG is not SAF and isn't about that lullling, counter attacking life :lol. It was the best decision for all 3 sides at the end of the day...

We have some options out wide though in Adnan(although LVG seems to have fallen in love with the idea of him as a no.10),Young,Mata and youngsters like Lingard and Pereira who are hungry and still waiting on their shot. I personally don't think we'd need another winger,it'd be nice sure but I'm fine with our options on the bench. Now ST and CB is a must I agree.

I wouldn't say it's all on Memphis to create the goals :lol, the entire attack needs to step up their level. Mata's missed a few chances along with creating some and our finishing in general has been poor. Once they start finding their flow and regaining that confidence in finishing,I think we'll be good in terms of goalscoring. That's also dependant on another strike option being brought in.

I see people are still overlooking the fact that in one summer United have completely gutted out and re-worked it's foundation. But hey, it is what it is.

I'm happy to see the deadweight gone, a solid foundation being built, and the right key players being added in.

People are acting like this is another window like the Moyes window.

adnan has a lot of potential but you can't rely on him week in and week out. the ADM thing really hurt yall imo.

and i wasn't saying depay won't be great but it just seems like man u fans think because they have been busy this summer, players are just dying to go to man u

i honestly think people don't want to play for LVG

but people are underestimating pedro.

he is great with both feet.  amazing stamina and tracks back better than anyone i've seen on barcelona in a long time.

there is no way willian is better than him.

I'm not really salty about Di Maria leaving.

But then again, I'm also a PSG fan.

United will have to figure this out. More so for the sake of the champions league.

i can still see them finishing top 4. I'm scaling my "top of the league" ambitions back. Hopefully they can deliver above my expectations.
