Underrated with respect to all of the other signings of the summer... as in not much has been said about it and it didn't get much press since it was a BL signing and not an EPL/Liga/SerieA signing... It got lost in the Ramos/DDG/Schweini/Memph/Otamendi/Sterling/ETC sagas... Im sure you got my drift...

2009/10 for me Rooney was the best striker in the world at that time. He score 35+ in all comps and you've got to take in the fact that was the season CR7 left, so he had to and did step up.


I agree he's not lived up to his potential, but imo, at one point or another he has been on the top 5 in the world

Rooney also finished 5th in the 2011 Ballon Do'r behind Messi, Ronaldo, Xavi and Iniesta.

So obviously his fellow players and coaches agreed that he was at that point, world class.

I'm not defending Rooney because I'm English, you'll find 99.9% of English football fans (myself included) have overall been disappointed with Wayne for not living up to his potential.
