Wow, so ya'll are voting "No" on starting a new thread to get the boys back. Hmmm, didn't see that coming.

Btwk where did that "Cold Night in Stoke..." thing come from? I've used it many times because I think it's hilarious but no idea where it came from.

must be those f*boy lurkers that voted

There was a user that had a 30 day ban from the car thread and he was able to get reinstated. I'm sure Meth can uplift their ban so they could come back.

Meth said he's open to it and will consider it as long as they and "we" stay in line. Thats what he told me so I guess TomD and Fresco need to not get banned by then (Dec or Jan) - but he reassured me that it is possible to reinstate members to a thread - I think someone said on here it wasn't possible.

I wish the items in your sig were all one size larger, I would have bought at least one of them

Have any of you guys been paying attention to the recent developments on Catalonia's bid to secede from Spain? Apparently it might have major implications on La Liga, among other things of course.

Not trying to be a douche Trey, but yes this topic has came up alot. Especially during every September when Catalan National day is in full effect and 1 million people are out there holding hands from each side of the Catalan borders.

The Catalans are doing everything they can from bidding, lobbying, public polling, protesting, and challenging for the referendum to be voted on. But they always run into a HUGE road block, the high Spanish courts - it's against the law to break away according to the (The Spanish Constitution) - the Spanish government know that. They'll ride with that until the wheels fall off because they know if they allow Catalonia to vote on the referendum - the Catalans will win in a lannnnndslide.

It's interesting stuff, this news is ongoing and will not go away anytime soon - but yes we have talked about Barca being Ligue 1. It just wouldn't feel right :x :x :x - But lets say the Catalans get independence, La Liga will do everything they can to keep them but most importantly for us Footy fans is...."EL CLASICO" will be 10x more epic than it already is :wow: :wow: :pimp:

 my bad. There are periods of time where I don't check this thread as much as I'd like to, law school has me busy during the semester

I don't know how we live without CL games mid week...

Legitimately felt lost these last 2 days

It came from a comment by Andy Gray implying that Messi would struggle playing in England. Just the sort of English arrogance you have grown to love Coupe

This post on Reddit explains it better:

I hate the international break

I know the "can he do it on a cold night in Stoke" is trelated as a joke by 99.9% of the world, but the whole idea behind the original statement is so stupid. The only reason anyone would struggle gainst Stoke back then is because those dudes had 0 tactics and were just out to injure everyone, not because they were making long passes and throw ins

to go along with what Coupe said about Catalonia... had talked to someone working on a movie set with me when I overheard her on a live news feed of Spanish in a different dialect or something. I asked and it was Catalan, started talking to her and she said that them separating from Spain was a very fickle matter. All of Spain was watching how the turn out of "Scotland voting to separate from the UK" thing was going to play out to see if something could play out the same way and the repercussions that came with it. everything else is spot on by Coupe

If Catalonia seperate, Barca will just operate in La Liga like Monaco operates in Ligue 1. I don't see what the big deal is football wise.

Branislav Ivanovic looks set to extend his contract at Chelsea, although his long-term future is yet to be decided, according to the player’s agent.

Ivanovic, who has recently fallen out of favour during the Blues’ dismal start to the season, was recently linked with a move to Inter Milan.

However, while refusing to rule out a move for his client to the San Siro, Zoran Krneta revealed his plans to remain at Stamford Bridge.

"Probably he will renew his deal with Chelsea,” Krneta told InterLive.it. "Rumours about Inter? In football everything is possible.

“Anyway, the Nerazzurri could be interested to him for the summer market and not the winter one.”

Manchester City want Chelsea target Carlo Ancelotti as manager if Pep Guardiola turns them down, writes the Daily Star.

Current boss Manuel Pellegrini has a dealuntil 2017 after agreeing a 12 month extension back in August.

However, another season without a trophy could see the Chilean sacked and City are preparing for a back-up plan should they not lure Guardiola away from Bayern Munich.

Fiorentina will allow Manchester United target Mario Gomez to leave next summer if they receive at least £14m for the German striker, reports the Daily Star.

Gomez is currently on loan at Turkish side Besiktas, who have an option to make the deal permanent, but Fiorentina have revealed any club could buy the forward for £14.1m next summer.

United have been linked with a move for the 30-year-old in recent weeks.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is planning to sell two of his side’s forwards to bring in Bayern Munich hitman Robert Lewandowski next summer, reports Spanish website Sportyou.

Perez is already believed to have turned his thoughts to the 2016 summer transfer window and he is weighing up the prospect of cashing in on both Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, who have netted 467 goals between them since arriving at the Bernabeu in the summer of 2009.

According to Sportyou, Perez feels the Portuguese and the Frenchman have more than paid back their initial transfer fees and he is now keen on constructing his attack around Poland international Lewandowski.

In addition, the funds that would be raised from the sales of Ronaldo and Benzema would also help Madrid to pursue moves for long-standing targets David de Gea and Eden Hazard.

Chelsea are keeping tabs on Lazio star Antonio Candreva, according to reports in Italy.

It is claimed no official negotiations have been opened over a deal for the Italy international but Chelsea are following the player and could make a move in January.

Adnan Januzaj's agent has hit out at claims the Manchester United winger, who is on loan at Borussia Dortmund, has a "poor state of mind".

Belgium U21 head coach Enzo Scifo is said to have questioned Januzaj's attitude after he turned down the opportunity to link up with the squad last week.

But Januzaj's agent, Dirk De Vriese, has leapt to the defence of his client and denied there was any issue with the player's approach.

"There is no question of a bad state of mind," De Vriese told La Derniere Heure. "Adnan focuses on his work and we plan the rest. Do not point the finger. [Borussia Dortmund] are doing well and is a real machine. The current Dortmund is one of the best teams in Europe.

"Remember that Adnan did not have pre-season with them. Dortmund have given him time to adapt and we must do the same. When Gundogan and Lewandowski arrived, they were there all the way through the pre-season period and took six months to find their rhythm."

It's beyond arrogance at this point bro, it's turned into straight English Football delusion.

I always understood the joke and thats why I've used it before, I just never knew which idiot said it in the first place  Thanks for letting me know. It's so damn epic, does that dude still have a job?

Right, remember within the last year I updated the thread and talked about Scotland being independent and how important it would for Catalonia going forward? I even posted pics of what would happen to the British flag - I brought those things up, and I was really excited about it because of Catalonia going forward (maybe it was during the time you were getting your Eurotrip on )

But yes, if Scotland grew a pair of balls and decided to become independent, Spain would of had a huge problem on their hands because the world community would have put lots of pressure on them to give Catalunya a referendum. Scots voted No, so as of right now - the world community and the EU really aren't making Spain & Catalunya a priority. But this changes everyday, Catalan's need outside help to make this happen because internally, in Spain, it's still against the law.

It's not about if Messi could play in England but be able to handle the extremely physical style of play Stoke has and on a cold and rainy night at their stadium.

I wouldn't survive a cold and rainy night in Stoke if I just had to spend the night. Place looks wack as hell.

Are you being serious bro? I can't tell :nerd:

You don't think Messi would be able to handle it? I know Messi isn't Ronaldo physical (who btw, did more than fine on cold rainy nights in England while he played), but a part of Messi's game that gets completely overlooked (because he's so good) is how physical he is. He's small, he's a flea, - but Messi is strong mannnn. Messi is physical, especially for his size. It goes unnoticed just how physical he is.

You'd have a better argument (if your serious) with a player like Neymar, who really lacks physicality compared to other top footballers - but I wouldn't doubt Neymar scoring a hattrick on a frigid night in Stoke either, I mean this is still football - it's more technical than physical (something English people can't seem to understand yet)

Some oil money billionaire needs to buy Stoke, put them in the Champions League, and have them draw Barcelona real quick!!!! Real F'n Quick.

i'm so shocked...

Same sources that are saying Real want to unload Ronaldo and Benzema to get De Gea and Hazard too, from Barcelona, lol..

If we're being serious here, I'd rather we go after a one-healthy-legged Marco Reus than this year's out of form Hazard.

Do people really think it doesn't get cold and rainy in Spain and Argentina? And again, Stoke aren't physical, they are dirty as @$!@. @Newgodflow as an Arsenal fan, you should know that considering what happened to Ramsey

If players like Alexis, Agureo, Suarez can kill it in the EPL, I don't see why Messi couldn't

Messi would still be an undeniably Top 2 player in the world if he were in the EPL, especially if he played Stoke twice a year.
