@NorthOaklandFC   I don't think anything you said was wrong but my comment about college sports wasn't really about college soccer. It was about how I feel about college sports as a whole to clarify.

I think it's on Morris. He's got a ton of options overseas.

There was a good grantland article on the situation In September.

This is all after the fact though

Its easy to say that in hindsight. What would you say if he turned out to be a bust?

Yeah he's great now in reality. After playing in Italy. But who say's he would have been as great in England?

ADM was great in Spain. Ain't work out the same in England..

But he didn't turn out to be a bust...he turned out to be one of the best midfielders in the world so it ended up being a mistake.

I don't see how this is debatable.
And ADM situation is nowhere near the same as this...that's a bad analogy.

For once i actually agree with Jape

ADM struggled but still pumped out like 15 assists. Imagine if he actually flourished. Pogba was different, dude was hungry for playing time while ADM was already a world class player at Real Madrid.

It's not debatable, it was the right decision at the time.

In hindsight, Pogba turned world class, but you're acting like SAF knew that would happen.

Pogba could have EASILY become another Bojan.

I don't know why it's so difficult for folks to understand that you're all speaking about Pogba AFTER he became world class. AFTER things worked out. At the time of the decision, SAF was 100% right. When you make decisions, sometimes even when you make the right decision, things work out differently than you anticipated, that doesn't make it a bad decision.

The reason I want to get rid of college soccer is because it is too segmented. The coaching doesn't stand up the way it could through an academy. And i understand the argument that 90% of academy kids won't make it but im not saying skip your education. I mean most people wont' be pro athletes in any sport. Thats just the casualties of the beast really. But college isn't the best place to grow especially when there is the facade of "education" being first.

The thing is we say college has made some good players but we have a HUGE talent pool. We should be a top 25 nation at Soccer. What are we 33 right now? We should be making Messi's and Ronaldos....not happy with hey remember that guy Donovan he was good...he like played at Everton and held his own...what a shining moment for US soccer. That is sad.

Get the kids young. Teach them properly. Continuing molding them through good coaching and high levels of play throughout their life. Make sure they stay on good teams. Soccer isn't like basketball where 1 person can dominate at a bad school. You need good players around you. The system we have now isn't and hasn't been working. We need to try something else if we want to be elite. But i know that its going to be hard to change and would be fine with staying in the low teens of rankings. 15 or 14 maybe would be cool

By this logic, the Sixers should have never traded Kobe during draft night.

Looking back, they shouldn't have. But who could have guessed Kobe would have turned out to be... Kobe.

Nobody saw Pogba turning into what he is today. Players succeed differently in different leagues, surrounded by different cultures.

For all we know, Pogba could have ended up like Balotelli. Or he could have turned out just as he has. Who are we to say. But Man U is a big enough club to attract Pogba caliber players again.

You guys aren't the Sixers.. You'll be alright.

It was the Hornets, and the deal was already set in place between LA and CHA, so essentially the Hornets picked Kobe for the Lakers cause they knew they were getting Divac in return. It was the Nets who wanted Kobe and ultimately passed "supposedly" due to what Jerry West was telling them about him. But nonetheless you're definitely right with your point.

Yeah, the Hornets

Don't know why I kept thinking it was the Sixers

Edit : What FC Lorient's kits will look like this weekend.
