I've always liked Riley, but I figured after OSU, he'd go to a smaller program and ride out his career being the coach of a tough non-power for a few years. I suppose he still has passion since he took the Nebraska job, but it just felt...different. Off, really.

I was completely on board even though he had a shaky record. I'm willing to see how it goes next season but the leash is going to be extremely short. We really should have opened the checkbook and got a big name in hindsight

I see where you're coming from...His teams were always competitive and tough outs, so giving him the reigns to a big-time program was hopeful. I agree about the short leash though. Gotta give him a full year and generally, I'm for giving more than that, but not in this situation. I don't follow college as close as many of you, but it always appeared to me that he was a coach more than a recruiter, so you think once he has the athletes, he should be able to win and do it a lot, but coaching is something that shows up damn near instantly (see: Harbaugh and McElwain), yet Nebraska is going in reverse and look uninspiring at times.

Then again, I've always felt the same of Petersen (great coach) and going off of just last year it was just

Now, even though Washington isn't a top team, you can see life and direction. Belief.
